I gave blood last Friday for the first time ever.  It was sooooo easy and I had no ill effects whatsoever.  I plan on donating every couple of months from now on.

Ever give platelets, Mike? I gave last week--Walter Reed folks are here in the Pentagon and want what we can give--either blood or platelets. Platelets go farther than whole blood in wound treatment; about a 10:1 ratio, I'm told. And you can donate every week, or oftener in some cases. Takes a while though-about two hours in my case.

Good on ya' for giving the gift of life...

Yep, I've done the apherisis a couple of times.

Not my favorite way of spending a couple of hours, though.

In Navy boot camp, they gave us a steak dinner.  I figured it would be "minute" steak or something, but it was sirloin or ribeye.

Now the bloodsuckers just give me cookies.

Thanks for giving blood, and more importantly, plasma.

I get a weekly infusion of a derivative of plasma. Keeps my lungs working longer. Mostly, it's obtained through the paid-donor plasma centers nationwide.

5000 or so of my friends nationwide and I appreciate it.
