Well there is a thought that global cooling caused Joe Smith to leave the northeast for non-frozen greener pastures.

Hasn't Iraq been a little water scarce for a few years though?

Sure will, but that is more a function of population explosion than it is global warming. Already plenty of touchy areas like the Nile and Mekong where one country controls the head of the river and the folks downstream have different needs or ideas. It could happen here, what I've seen of the American west I love, but not moving there, too much of inviting the man into your life with respect to water and land rights.

I had the thought the other day that the way to become a Big Writer was to pick a problem and contrive a way to blame it on global warming.

Or vice versa.

^^^ I am pretty sure that if you put in the article that Glocks compensate for the increased Coriolis force caused by global warming climatic variations and thus improves shot placement, you can sell it to the gun rags.
