Another Interesting Obamacare tidbit.
« on: November 01, 2013, 01:00:26 AM »
Everyone knows about the news stories about somewhere between 7 and 11 million Americans in the Individual Insurance Market getting their policies cancelled.  (The "If you like like your plan you can keep it." Lie.)

And that the administration knew about well in advance.

http://news.yahoo.com/obama-administration-knew-millions-wouldn-t-be-able-to-keep-insurance--report-222249311.html

(Fox News called it back in May:  http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/05/30/obamacare-to-usher-in-health-insurance-cancellation-notices/)

Along those same lines (and because of the same reasons),  50-75% of Employer provided health plans will cancelled when the employer mandate kicks in.  (Which should have happen earlier this year.)

All those notices will go out around this time next year.  About a week before the election.

The obvious question: How will this be blamed on the GOP candidate?

FTFY.

The GOP is in on Obamacare. There are only a few people in congress that are trying to stop/repeal this mess.

Well, I was thinking (wishfully) that it was already a presidential election year. I blame candy overdose.

Still, going along with the Democrats doesn't mean they won't skewer you for any and every reason, and politically destroy you.

It's all part of the Democrats Socialists plan to achieve their stated goal of Single Payer health care.

Fortunately these socialists are inept and have made such an absolute mess of things, I think (and hope) that the people of this country will recoil in horror at the idea of giving the government more control over all of this.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

I'm afraid you are more optimistic then I.  The problem will of course be the greedy insurance companies fouling up the works, and solutions will be implemented to that end.

Easy.  Blame the GOP for the Affordable Health Act law and blame Obame for Obamacare.

The Socialists don't care if O'Care collapses, it will just give them the opportunity to swoop in an do something!

"Everything would be working fine if the evil, heartless Republicans weren't in cahoots with with the evil, greedy insurance companies!"

What kills me is that now that they have re-engineered their marketing and sales models, the insurance companies are in cahoots with Obamacare.  They WANT it to go forward, even though the ultimate end-game of O-care is to put them out of business with a single payer solution (government tax revenue).

True it is. They stand to make a metric butt load of money with the new minimum insurance requirements in the unACA

But only for maybe a decade or so.  At which point, the economic reality of "insurance" when it comes to health care will be exposed as unrealistic, and the socialists can try to institutionalize a "right" to health care and make insurance a thing of the past.

This shyt would cost 1/10th of what it does today if you got rid of all the MillCreeks (risk managers) and AZRedhawks (expensive IT guys) and Gertrude (damned paper-pushing billers).  No ICD9/CPT4 codes.  Just doc, patient, and treatment.

I blame the GOP right now.  If they had stood their ground in the .gov shut down, instead of grabbing ankle at the first sign of bad press,  we might of had a different story.

Speaking of which, are you guys going to have the ICD-10 ready to go for us? Time is running short!

Is there a new set of diagnostic codes coming out?  I'm a few years removed from working in that industry, but I do a little bit of consulting from time to time for a former employer.

Frankly, I'm happy to throw in the towel and have a 2 tier healthcare system.  Free shyt for the Free Shyt Army, and good health care for people that understand how economies actually operate.  You get postal/tsa/public school quality employees in the free system, and no governmental fee schedules are accepted at all in the private system.

"Might have had." And I just don't see them having that much leverage at that point in time. Now, if they had stood their ground when the bill came up for a vote. Or if the Supreme Court had stood its ground...

http://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Coding/ICD10/index.html?redirect=/ICD10/

Theoretically, all of our electronic medical record and billing software has to be ready to do ICD-10 on 1 October 2014.  All of the private and public payors are adopting the standard.  It will lead to many more diagnosis codes and inpatient procedure codes.  At least at this time CPT is remaining unchanged.

The Fail gets even stronger:

Apparently, testing the DAY BEFORE the launch of Healthcare.gov showed that more then 1100 users would crash the system.
