The diplomatic relation stuff is just official fiction.  We have been selling weapons to them for years.  Occasionally China objects to selling them the more advanced stuff.

From what I remember, most of it was stuff China probably already has anyway.  I think the biggest was diesel subs. 

I thought I heard China already has a significant short range amphibious capability.  It would still be costly.  Whether one of our carrier groups would threaten the move is another thing.

I think we should honor a One China policy -- with Taiwan as the capital of China. You know -- like it was all the way from shortly after WW2 up until that moron Jimmy Carter wss President.
