Ca city imposes second hand smoke law..
« on: March 15, 2006, 05:26:32 PM »
I got to tell ya, this making laws for most everything one does or may
do is just flat moronic. But then it's Ca were talking about.
And I survive here...barely. Thank heavens it's out to the east.
But this ? I just don't know..

From Friday, smokers will be asked to go to designated areas, or will be handed small cards outlining the new law. Persistent offenders risk fines of up to $500.

Calabasas of all places? I haven't spent time there in a long while, but I recall it being a pretty cowboy town for the outskirts of LA. I would have expected San Francisco or Berkeley.

I have no idea if its true or not, but my experience with picturesque towns on the outskirts of big liberal cities is that they tend to become the fashionable place for wealthy limosine liberals to "get out of the city and it's problems" so that they can bring their own problems with them.

Reasons I like Terlingua:

1.  It's unincorporated.
2.  Texas counties cannot pass such ordinances.
3.  Ms Tracy's cafe up at Ghost Town is all-smoking, indoors.  Tracy doesn't care if you like that or not.  If you don't like it, sit out on the patio or take a hike.

All smoking?  Art, what if I do not smoke?  Am I forced to smoke?Cheesy

No perfume/dedoradant/aftershave zones are coming soon!
I do not smoke pot, wear Wookie suits, live in my mom's basement, collect unemployment checks or eat Cheetoes, therefore I am not a Ron Paul voter.

I'd vote for that. Well, if they modified it to no HEAVY perfume etc anyways. Some people do NOT know how much is ENOUGH!

Naw.  "Don't light'em if ya ain't got'em."

Oh:  It's a cell-phone-free zone, as well.  Tracy's is the only ringy-dingy allowed.

Tracy's a hoot.  Got a master's in history from Oxford.  Got commissioned in the Royal Navy.  Wound up at the British embassy in D.C.  Got fed up.  Resigned her commission and got a green card.  After some years in Dallas, she had another fed-up attack and wound up in Terlingua.  She's gotten a fair amount of press at one time or another; Texas Monthly, etc.

well allow deodorant...  the alternative is worse.

perfume/cologne

True some people don't know when enough is enough, killing birds at 100 paces with too much whore juice on.

I get a headache just walking past Bath and Body Works store.

My whole deal with the smokers/non smokers is let the restarant/bar owner decided what the policy is going to be. Let the patrons vote with their dollars.

Both Deadeye Deb and Mongo quit smoking.  Mongo August, 2004 and Deb December 2005.

We went to a local restaurant which we visit about once every 6 weeks and noticed that they had posted No Smoking signs.  Nice place, nice separate bar area, when Deb smoked we went there regularly.

I mentioned the sign to a fellow at the door (who turned out to be the owner) as I asked for a non-smoking table.  He said, proudly, that they had received complaints from people who were picking up carry out orders AT THE BAR, about smoking, and they decided to go non smoking.  These were not even sit down diners.

If they had a problem with the carry outs, why not do it at the desk, or, even better, walk it out to their customer's car?  No, Mr. Blissninny banned smoking for every one.

They will do without our patronage until the sign disappears.
