A good weekend for cooking

Haven’t decided what yet.
6” of new snow on top of the remains of last weekends blizzard with falling temps and 20 mph winds causing drifting. Snow is knee deep across the drive.
The tractor is in the barn ready to work but kinda pointless unless the wind settles down. I kicked a path to the woodshed.
Propane tank was filled this week. Gas on hand for the gen if needed. Looks like a homestead kind of day.
I’m thinking maybe a long slow simmer beef stew or a pheasant pot pie.
Wife wants me to Jeep her to some church thing tonight but I’m hopeful that a nice fire in the fireplace, a glass or 2 of wine and the smell of deliciousness cooking will give her second thoughts.

Made a crock pork loin yesterday.
Tomorrow I'm making another batch of that kickass chili.

It's comfortably in the 50s here today, so tri-tip on the grill, roasted asparagus, and BBQ garlic bread. Washed down with wine.

We are going to roast a chicken, make mashed potatoes and roast some brussel sprouts.

Saturday is always my night to cook. I had 2 quail in the freezer with 1 smallish pheasant. Made pot pie in the cast iron Dutch oven. It was great.
Wife is making her Cuban black bean stew with smoked ham hocks tonight.
Current temp is 8f dropping to sub zero tonight.
