I've never used the Federal bulk shotgun ammunition, but I've used Remington, and it works well. The hull is pretty close to the same as what they use in their more expensive trap ammunition, the only difference is that it has a steel base instead of a brass one. Seems to break clays just fine, too (at least, when I'm holding up my end of the deal).
It's usually priced similar to Winchester, maybe a buck or two more per 100 pack.
With the cheap Winchester stuff, I was having problems with it fitting in a 20 ga. Stevens 311. The hulls were slightly too large, and had problems with extraction. They weren't that easy to load, either. I can't imagine the issues they would have caused if I had attempted to feed them through the Browning Auto-5.
