Say that they will invade Nigeria.

Mozilla Thunderbird throws that crap in the trash for me and I don't have to look at it.

The first candidate that talks about using the "bully pulpit" to urge Big Oil to "do its patriotic duty" and lower gas prices to end the recession will be the shoo-in come November....
-
Well, I want 'em to attack Nigeria.

Most of the price of gasoline is the base oil stock. The second largest part is various taxes on it. refining and transportation is the third largest part. Profits are the least part.
I don't hear any cry for government to reduce its share of the pie. I wonder why that is?

President "Dr. Paul" of Internetistan would take issue to any candidate trying to usurp his throne...

Becasue then there'd be less money for our masters to buy the votes of the poor, the stupid and other ner do wells that keep them in office?

Did I read somewhere that the oil companies make less $ on gallon of gas than the .gov does with taxes?

"It will by my policy to invade Nigeria in a constitutionally sound manner, as outlined by the founding fathers, and with minimal carbon footprint."

Gramps, I dunno about the oil companies, but I do know that when I managed a gas station, our station definitely made less in profit. Actually, our gross revenues were about 10 cents per gallon. Out of that, we had to pay our lease, utilities, payroll, etc. Dunno how we ever made a profit. Oh, and at the time, taxes were about 30-35 cents per gallon (can't remember the exact figure). This was back in the late 90's.......

The big money is in refining oil......and none of our refineries are operating at full capacity.....as well as demand for gas has actually dropped while prices have gone up.....
