Cash box/pistol safe?
« on: December 04, 2006, 07:22:34 AM »
I'm looking for a small locking cash box/pistol safe to keep in my wife's office.  Suggestions?

Buy something that is too heavy for 2-3 people to move without equipment, other that that use a shoebox. Anything light can be easily carried off and opened later so you might as well go without.

Can you put in a floor safe or bolt something down to concrete?

Actually my main concerns are sticky-babysitter fingers as well as keeping a pistol in my wife's office and away from the kids.   We might bolt it to the foundation or the house's framework though.
We only keep a little babysitter money on hand, and on occassion have a few checks and the like that need to go to the bank.
A large rifle fireproof safe is on our '07 agenda, and it will be too heavy to carry off and bolted to the foundation in our new house.
I just saw this on the 'net I like it

A little cheaper than the one I was looking at, too.

They have screw slots in the bottom for bolting it down too.

well if that is all you need for a possible sticky finger babysitter, just get on of those small firesafes from walmart. It is what I use at home to keep my basic documents in.

This is what I have

I have the same model charby linked to, and it may be one way to go, especially since you're already planning to upgrade to a much safer option shortly.

My only stipulation I guess is that it has a keypad of some kind.  I don't want to be hunting for a key to get into it.

probably what 280plus recommended, then when you get your big safe you can mount the gun vault to your bed rails in the bedroom.
