Really, really, interesting...
Ralph Northam's camp has been bitching for months about Ed Gillespie's horrible, horrible ads in the governor's race that call Northam's policies and stances into question.
They're positively triggered by it.
But this *expletive deleted*ing *expletive deleted*it is OK... for Northam's lie machine to suggest that all of Gillespie's supporters are white supremacists who are looking to mow down children of color.

Either he thinks voters for the other party are like that, or he's willing to insinuate they are knowing they're not. Either way, that's disgusting. Worse than the "deplorable" comment by a long shot.
-
Given what just happened in NYC, and based on early reports, I guess Gillespie could make a similar ad featuring Jihad Jhonny and Ralph & Camp would be just fine with it?

Now, Mike, you know that Left-wing fear-mongering is never fear-mongering. It's - well, it's intersectionality, and narratives of cisgendered white male oppression, or something.
(Firefox's spell-checker fails to recognize either "intersectionality" or "cisgendered." I am, like, so totally triggered right now.)
-
It turns out they pulled the ad, after that Gillespie voter in NYC ran over all of those minority kids. This garbage makes me want to slap a Gillespie sticker on my Canyonero, and I've never been to Virginia.
Edit: You can get your Gillespie swag here, and make a donation at check-out, if you like.
https://edforvirginia.store/collections/gear
I'm going to put my new Gillespie magnet on my car, and see if it causes any homicidal urges.
-
Yep, they pulled the ad but are COMPLETELY unapologetic about it.
-
The pulling does not address the fact that multiple people thought running it was okay.
-
Matt Christiansen points out that the ad demonstrates that walls actually do work.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O37LmKUz0YQ
Also, Gillespie's campaign says they're fund-raising has tripled since the ad came out.

(In full disclosure, this correspondent donated a wopping $10.)

Another one.

Never let a hate crime go to waste.
-
I read that the group that ran the “run them down” ad was funded by Soros.
-
The Republican party of VA is running an ad on the radio that heavily references the rum em over ad and tells the listener where to go online to see it. If you do PR for a living and your opposition steals your ad maybe time to just delete your account and learn how to pack fries.

That is hilarious, especially the last part.
-
It gets better. A little bit ago I got an email from the Northam camp screaming bloody murder that Gillespie's fundraising had tripled because of the run them over add.
Amazing that they are freaking about something they created.
They are really buying into Hillary's pass the blame game.

Have you heard the radio spot about how Northham won't lie, cheat, or steal since it is his VMI honor code? That goes just great along with this ad. Every year I rethink my no TV service policy. And then every year comes election time and I am all happy again. I don't know Northham, but I can imagine how sorry a human being has to be to make me happy about voting Ed. And I really don't like Ed.

Mike, dude, you cannot leave us hangin' like this. You must share with us their peerless, impeccable logic. Where on the doll did Gillespie hurt them this time?
-
Here's the money text from the e-mail...
"The Gillespie campaign is reporting that their online donations have TRIPLED in the last few days, Michael.
Up until now, Gillespie has been relying on deep-pocketed special interests like the NRA, the Koch brothers, and the Republican Governors Association (yeah, the $7.5 MILLION they threw into the race last month can definitely be a game-changer).
But with a surge in grassroots support, they can easily outpace us. So far, we’ve been able to keep up the pace of our own fundraising (and kick-ass ground game) because of supporters like you ready to push us to the finish line. But we need you now more than ever."
In other words...
AH MAH GERD! PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY DONATING TO GILLESPIE! NOT JUST THE NEANDERTHALS AT NRA! YOU GOTTA HELP US PROVE THAT HE HAS NO SUPPORT BY GIVING US MONEY!
I don't like politicians of any stripe...
But if *expletive deleted*ing HATE Democrats.
I SO want Gillespie to win just to grind their smug, man-bun boy faces into the dirt. I want to hear their triggered lamentations.
-
I want to hear their triggered lamentations.
And hear the Lamentations of the womyn. =D
-
Shoot. I had hoped they were going to say something truly entertaining. Something like, "Once these Republicans saw how the Gillespie campaign hunts down young persons of color, THEY CHIPPED IN FOR GAS MONEY!!!!!!!"
-
This morning's juicy fradenwhatever...
"Michael, I get a LOT of calls, emails, and texts from people freaking out about the polls, or about how much money Gillespie’s team is raising.
And this is the answer I give them all: If you’re nervous, roll up your sleeves and help us win this thing."
Good. I'm glad they're freaking out. But, I hope they calm the hell down and stay home Tuesday.
-
And hear the Lamentations of the womyn. =D
Well it sure as hell isn't going to be the lamentations of the cisnormal.
-
Even more fun stuff from the LVF...

-
One of the talking heads on the overnight satellite rightwinghateradio mentioned the the D had disavowed knowledge of the ad but the type,of ad some kind of "in kind" thing requires a nod from the campaign.
-
I have absolutely NO doubt that the Northam campaign knew all about the LVF ad.
The Dems have been whining about Republican dog whistles to their base, but that LVF was a *expletive deleted*ing dog siren to its base.
I think it's a pretty good indication of just how nervous and desperate the Northam campaign is getting.

It's gotten so bad, Northam has that stupid "The VMI Code requires" ad running in SW Virginia. Yeah, I belive you're all about honor, Dr. Northam. I can see that by your clear denunciation of the above ads we've... oh wait, you've not made a peep about the race-baiting and sliming. It's only when someone talks about your poor record that you squeal like a stuck pig.
-
"When they go low we go high."

I love how they tie Gillespe to Trump...

Did anybody happen to see Northam's running mate in that ad? I noticed there were some other pol's in there, but I don't think I saw him. Interesting, since they are cutting him out of some of the other campaign materials.

I'm gonna go terrify some brown kids. ;/
-
Don't you mean confuse the hell out of some brown kids??Last I knew you are in Missouri and Gillespie is running in Virginia, Those brown kids won't have any clue who had Gillespe is.
Also, shouldn't that be on your front bumper??

The old Jesse Jackson joke, how to tell if someone was from the north or the south, see which bumper the run Jesse run sticker was on.
Ashamed to admit I lived in a household that had a Jesse sticker proudly displayed.

Front or back bumper?

It has been told to me that Northam is essentially running as Hillary Clinton. I'm not informed enough to know if that is the case, but there's that axiom about not interrupting an enemy when he's making a mistake...

Yeah, he's definitely running on the coattails of the Clintons and current Governor, Clinton confidant, and Communist Terry McAuliffe.
The big problem is, Clinton won Virginia by about 220,000 votes, almost all of that coming from Fairfax, Arlington, and Richmond City.
-
Just took a look at the latest polls. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2017/governor/va/virginia_governor_gillespie_vs_northam-6197.html
Still close... until you get to Quinnipiac... They have Northam up 17 points.

Uh oh... the Deems are getting pissed with me that I haven't contributed to Ralphs election campaign.

It's getting hard to understand how anyone could want to be considered a Democrat nowadays...or a Republican for that matter. Both parties should change their names formally to the Democrat Marxists and of course...The Stupid Party.

Tell them you've been busy running down little immigrant children.
-
Northam is such a bad candidate that the Daily Progress endorsed Gillespie. Yes, the Charlottesville paper. Of course Northam is going to handily win the town.
-
One of my facebook observations yesterday...
Gillespie - Northam is Bernie Sanders with a thin coating of Hillary Clinton who believes in the magical money tree to give people free *expletive deleted*it.
Northam - Gillespie is a Trump shill who will kill the poor, feed them to the middle class, and end taxes on the rich.
Of the two *expletive deleted*it choices I have, I'll risk becoming soylent green over the believing in unicorns that *expletive deleted*it money.
-
I voted, number 207 today, same time last year I was 307, so less interest. I shouldn't have, but I voted for Fairfax, be funny to see him win and the other idiots lose. Voted L for local delegate, it is a no chance in hell for anyone not named Dickie Bell district and he is okay, but hey protest vote.
-
Sometimes race-baiting and fear-mongering work out well for the Democrats. This was one of those times. =(

Four more years of socialists in Virginia.

The ONLY consolation I take from this is the detestable establishment types got their preferred squish this time-
And Ken Cuchinelli made it MUCH closer last time with zero support from them and all their money for Gillespie had him lose by 8 points.
Thanks yet again, you worthless hacks.

Yep, another state run by its urban center that agrees with nowhere else. Worked so good for Illinois and new York. Dunno what to do, can't leave, had people of my name here for +300. Hopefully just another crippled governor, hogtied legislature, term limit and a balanced budget. Long term expect to see more big industry go to South Carolina if we make idiot noises about unions or fight for 15.   [barf]

House 040 (R) lost by 68 votes. House 068 (R) lost by 312. Dems stand to have a one seat advantage in house of delegates. So save for a slim Republican Senate we are well and truly a blue state. I am sure national media will chortle about how blue we are, failing to note the difference was less people than one good Russian hostage rescue could take out.

AP is already with the spin. Jersey and Virginia are signs of voter discontent with Trump... Never mind that both states went Hilary in the first place. ;/

Although the press is ALWAYS looking for confirmation that voters hate Republicans, I think they are correct in this.
Yes, Virginia did go for Hillary last year, but not by this margin. The House of Delegates is also a HUGE swing. These are all worrisome portents for Republicans. (Especially given how the economy is performing, compared to the past 8 years.)
Again, they were small margins of loss, but many of these were "safe" seats. Virginia appears to be headed blue.
(Now if Trump would only take my suggestion and send much of the bureaucrats to far flung areas of the US, we could end NoVA's dominance of the rest of the state. Another suggestion that I have read is to force DC to take back Arlington and Alexandria. I can get behind that, too.)

I'll help them pack. Maybe give it to Maryland, PG and Montgomery could use some new voters.

I think blue, or blue-ish areas are just going to get more and more blue. Red states are going to keep trending more red.

My people got here almost 400 years ago, ended up in SC and GA. It's not so bad...

Until they get overwhelmed by refugees from CA, NY or IL, then they will start turning back to purple then to blue.

I'm reading that turnout was way down, as well.
In one district, Gillespie got 75% of the vote totals, but less than half of the vote numbers that Trump got. I'm not too surprised Gillespie had problems turning out the base.
(Oh, but we CAN'T run some uncouth boor like Cuchinelli! He'd make us look bad to the liberal press! ----yes, 4 years later I'm still bitter about stabbing an actual conservative in the back to elect TERRY MCAULIFFE.)
