The senator's actions are in response to the Chinese consulate asking him to introduce a resolution praising the Chinese response to the virus.  Apparently, the senator did not agree with that assessment . . . .

It's always been rather amusing over the years to see prominent people, politicians and other public figures wind up in deeper ca ca from covering something up rather than just admitting the foible.  This happens with regularity and one would think those public figures would catch on.
