Ken Burns' Country Music
« on: October 10, 2019, 03:24:02 PM »
I just finished watching Ken Burns' documentary Country Music.  I didn't know much about the history of country music before watching this documentary but thoroughly enjoyed it.  If we have any people on this board who are more knowledgeable, what did you think?  Was it a good coverage of the history of country music?

I would answer, but I am pretty busy now that the truck broke down, my wife ran off and the dog died.

In the modern self driving vehicle era the truck ran off

Oh, and the wife is now a man

I haven't seen the whole thing yet but the parts I've watched so far have been excellently done.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

True story. If a man today want anything close to Carrie Underwood songs there would be massive protests. She started with vandalizing a guy's truck, moved on to poisoning, has summoned the forces of nature to kill, we need to stop her before she kills again!

Meanwhile Blake Shelton is singing about honeybees and flowers while his soon to be ex wife is waiting with a shotgun for her man or singing about finding a cheater. Get a clue man!

I'm so contrarian that I didn't respond to the thread.

Wrong, Woody. The correct phrase is, "...I know they're talking about the pop/rap/R&B that passes for country today."
