Dish DVR mystery

I've got Dish satellite TV with a DVR.
Lately they have been running some commercials for their Dish.net internet service, the commercials have been featuring a couple of cowboys discussing their new internet services.
The mystery part comes in with the DVR. If I run it back, the commercial that just aired is gone and a different Dish commercial is there.
I know they have quite a bit of control over the receiver and DVR but it just seems odd to me.
