If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

What's the crush depth for a vintage Chevy, Larry?   =D

It isn't water tight enough. It would equalize long before it came to that.

Yeah, just trying to tie it into submarines for ya...   ;)

A former retired bubblehead colleague of mine spent some time explaining the diesel effect when said U-Boat is breached at depth.   :O

Yeah, I heard about that also.  Glad I didn't enlist in the Navy for nuke school like I had first planned.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

While not pleasant way to go it would be pretty quick.
Better that than the fate of the Kursk.

I saw that on the news when they were first found. The good thing is the families of the dead can finally get some peace.
Not knowing what happened to someone in my family for that long would be haunting.

Yup, our hydrophone arrays picked up both kabooms from the Kursk.

Which, ironically, sank in water that was more shallow (330ft) than the boat's overall length (472ft).   :O

The Kursk was a major screw up. It's possible some of the crew could have been rescued. Still that part of the Barents is an unforgiving piece of water.

So I guess this rules out alien abduction  =|
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

Unless of course it was an alien cover-up

Interesting. Hadn't thought of that effect but now that you mentioned it, that makes a lot of sense.

Yes, but it doesn't rule out a vindictive Tom-Tom.

Yes, but it doesn't rule out a vindictive Tom-Tom.

Considering that these went in the lake in the 60's and 70's I would say yes it does.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
