So private detective slash former cop allegedly had a thing for bondage and likely killed at least two ladies likely found on the internet?

Just wanting to get caught up on the details.

Yes.

Although the Walworth Co. crime-scene van did haul off his refrigerator too. So there might have been more going on.

It doesn't go bad unless they leave it unplugged for a protracted period.

OTOH, considering the "composite sketch" of the second victim found in a suitcase provided by the Geneva PD/Walworth Sheriff's Dept... we might not be dealing with CSI geniuses either.

Looks an awful lot like they took a photo of the second woman on the coroner's slab, and then tried to use MS-Paint to make it look a "little less dead" (emphasis on "little") and threw it out there on the blind hope friends and family would recognize a woman who'd been rotting in a suitcase in a farm field for six months.

Taking the fridge might just be a case of overreach and/or just a "everything including the kitchen sink mentality".

It's not like the region deals with a ton of murder or forensic examinations.

I wonder abou that... the bodies were found or presumeably dumped in Walworth county, but probably killed in Milwaukee county?
Wouldn't the Milwaukee Sheriff's department have a hand in this or is it just where the bodies are found?

No, but with Ed Gein and Jeffrey Dahmer as well as others, it's not like Wisconsin authorities haven't dealt with bizarre and macabre crimes before.

Common definition is three or more, with downtime inbetween killings.
FBI is two or more with downtime inbetween.

Go figure, government lowers the bar yet again.

LOL (<--- I'm probably going to hell for that)

Might not be a serial killer, he might just got sick of his stock of 'slaves' and decided to have a little fun with them before offing them.

Six months.  Dumped in mid-winter, promptly froze in the unusually cold winter.  Depending on where it was, it might have thawed some in march.  If it was well enough preserved to note a small heart shaped tattoo on the torso somewhere, it might be mummified.  Which is kind of what I thought when I saw the pic.

On the pic?The article did mention dark hair and an overbite correct? The pic might be enough to ring some bells in someone who might not otherwise have remembered. That's a serious set of chompers there.

I wonder abou that... the bodies were found or presumeably dumped in Walworth county, but probably killed in Milwaukee county?
Wouldn't the Milwaukee Sheriff's department have a hand in this or is it just where the bodies are found?

It comes down to the skill of the collection of evidence. From Milwaukee, to the smallest town that's still actually incorporated and has a PD, it's almost all processed in the centralized WI State Crime Lab... which has been under fire for years for incredibly slow work.

http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/29317614.html

Since 2007 Van Hollen has expanded the lab, added staff, and things are better, the backlog was finally declared cleared in 2010, but I don't know if it's "better-better" or "just better enough to keep it out of the news-better".

Might have had to much beer in it. That would make it suspicious and should be brought in for examination consumption.

It gets better...

One of the victims was in the fridge for TWO YEARS.  :P And he might have moved her to his car when the weather got cold.  He killed the second victim last November, and out of cold storage, that's what prompted him to take both of them in suitcases and dump them in the Geneva area an hour outside of Milwaukee.

He had been drummed out of the WAPD for consorting with a prostitute, although it was supposedly an unpaid "consensual" relationship. However "consensual" became debatable the night in 2001 she ran out of his apartment screaming, which is how the WAPD found out about his relationship.

So that's what got him fired/forced to resign.

http://www.collarspace.com/sp/bdsm/i/503999/profile.htm

So it looks as though he met the victims through the internet. It's possible that the deaths were consensual/accidental and he's only guilty of concealing bodies, lots of people die from erotic asphyxiation, but the prostitute/girlfriend who ran screaming kind of makes me doubt it. More likely the BDSM was "consensual until it wasn't anymore" and then it was too late for the victims.

What bothers me is that there was a WAPD cruiser parking outside his apartment FREQUENTLY. Mrs. Dual and I have both noticed it. So it seems like he still had friends on the force who visited him frequently.  Maybe only one friend. (Who never went into his fridge for a beer or a soda I guess...  :-X ) I'm kind of surprised, I'd think that someone leaving under a cloud like that for "creeper reasons", others on the force would steer clear.

The street in question is the second largest main E/W drag through town, and the road that actually has the police station on it, and all the squads pass that way on shift change.

Or did the WAPD know more about him, and the sqads were there every few days because he was on some kind of "unofficial parole"?   [tinfoil]

I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought
