Sheriff Joe -Might Run for President
« on: October 03, 2011, 02:09:49 AM »
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Even as screwed up as Sheriff Joe is, still
Better than Obama.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Why not.  Everyone else is running.
"Men, it has been well said, think in herds. It will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one."
- Charles Mackay, Scottish journalist, circa 1841

"Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it." - John Lennon

Unsurprising. Phoenix is sprawling, and many people have ditched Kalifornistan to live somewhere that is somewhat cheaper.

Yup.  It's bigger than most of those sissy little things you tenderfoots call "States" back East. :P

Know a guy that just went through a weekend the famous Tent City jail.   I really wish I could repost the details.  He once was a Sheriff Joe supporter.  Not so much.  Not because he went to jail, but because he got to see how the department works and how much of a joke it all is.

Personally, I guessed as much from a video where one of his deputies yanked a paper from a defense attorney.  Even if the note was "The defendant is the love child of Hitler, Satan and Osama bin Laden, and intends on unleashing the Zombie Apocalypse next Tuesday with an ancient Sumerian curse unless someone says Klaatu Varata Niktu."   You don't do that sort of thing.
"Rev, your picture is in my King James Bible, where Paul talks about "inventors of evil."  Yes, I know you'll take that as a compliment."  - Fistful, possibly highest compliment I've ever received.

Got a buddy who is a crimnal defense attorney in Phoenix.  He said the video is just the beginning.  Stories of secretly recorded conversations between inmates and their attorneys, "misplaced" evidence, misappropriated funds...  Sounds like absolute power may have corrupted absolutely...

i think the blue flu when the guy who snagged the papers behind the defense attorneys back was gigged indicates a failure

I really have no idea what this means, in a literal "these words in that order do not make sense" manner.

I approve of his stance on enforcing the law re illegal immigration. But his organization is very corrupt, and frankly I wish he was not on my side.
