Hank Williams Jr off Fox for Obama Comment
« on: October 07, 2011, 12:12:32 AM »
http://youtu.be/1eF6vCv13bw

Says he thought all the Repub candidates playing golf with the current president turned a lot of people off.  When asked to explain he said it was like "Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu."  I saw it mentioned in an article, that lacked the quote.  Looked through 5 more articles, no direct quote.  Pages of articles, all lacking a quote or even mentioning it was an analogy.  Easy enough to find in regional/local papers.  I first found it on youtube.

With the current ease of direct sourcing; come on!  Really!?!?

And even worse, the main consumers of that garbage, they don't even question the lack.  I know this is just a single occurrence of something I see happening all the time, but by golly, it burns my biscuits.

If you say the name of a democrat and "hitler" in the same sentence you are guilty of a hate crime.  The quote or context is irrelevant.

How many Democrats, all over TV, print, the internet, and radio, either implied Bush was Hitler, or said it flat out?  Bush made me  [barf] but glaring, obvious, intentional media double standard makes me pissed off.

I was OK with the Dixie Chicks losing radio play and fan base over negative comments about the President. I don't know if this is any different (except that criticism of Obama is obviously much more deserved). Maybe I'd think differently if I were a football fan.

And that stuff is going to get worse.

Well, the Dixie Chicks sort of doubled down on their comments and kept repeating them all over.  I figure most of the people who like Hank Williams Jr probably agree with him already.

Except that in context, he clearly wasn't calling the president Hitler.  It was an analogy.

Obama is to Boehner as Hitler is Netanyahu =/= Obama is Hitler.

Some folks need to study up on their English language.

Audio can be found Here it's 1:32 in.

The man DID call Obama the enemy, and obviously doesn't like him, but didn't call him Hitler.

Knowing the type of person Hank Jr. is, I'm surprised he made it this long before ESPN pulled the plug.  He has always been in your face and damn the consequences.

Kinda like asking Penn Jillette to give his opinion of current politics and being surprised when he makes the Tourette Syndrome patients blush.

Junior says he's tried to avoid going political but he may have just been pushed over the edge.
The TEA movement needs a minstrel.

Thought Lynyrd Skynyrd pretty much had that tied up with the release of God & Guns.

So now I know several times as much as I previously did about Hank Williams Jr.

I cannot find any benefit in that.
Gee, I'd love to see your data!

I think my quote was slightly incorrect.  It should have been:

If you don't like it can't ya just let it pass?

Much ado over nothing.  As he explained, he was simply making a dramatic comparison to demonstrate how idiotic the golf outing was. as usual, the press are just freaking idiots looking for anything to occupy air time.  Everyone seemed to miss the other point HWJ made- that two rich power brokers are having fun playing games when millions are hurting.

Tripe.  Poli-tripe.

Don't care for him at all.  I smell sensationalizing opportunist.

Jocassee:

With respect, if you want to complain that OfM is jingoistic propaganda, that's fine. However, it is a well-crafted, well-executed country & western song. This is tossed-off codswallop.

Lol.

I never heard it before as a complete song, just the first couple lines in some of the early Vietnam scenes of Full Metal Jacket.  Just YouTubed it.  Yep, same concept.  Poli-tripe.
