I haven't seen this on the MSM yet, but it appears to be genuine:
http://twitchy.com/2014/08/19/evil-straight-from-the-pits-of-hell-american-journalist-james-foley-reportedly-beheaded-by-isis/

Seems to be just now hitting MSM sources

I try to stay rational, maintain perspective, and keep the things in context but my "Turn the whole damn place into a parking lot" -o-meter twitches a little harder with each passing day.
Brad
-
Sorry Brad, you'll have to stew on that a while longer. The death in Ferguson is of much higher value, and this beheading will be forgotten soon enough. If only this journalist would have had the courtesy to die another day, so that he wouldn't be news competition, the nation might be as outraged over someone slowly having his head removed from his body as they are about a shooting death in Missouri.
-
I don't know. They threatened to murder another journalist if Obama didn't respond.
Anyone know the stats on how many kidnapped journalists might be on-deck?
-
Don't we have CIA assassins anymore? Why the hell aren't we using them? (plausibly deniably, of course) ISIS leaders should be dying mysteriously right and left, and everyone knows we did it but can't prove anything.
Get creative with it an make it look like a scene from one of those Final Destination movies.

Maybe the CIA doesn't like the MSM, either.

My meter has been steadily going from "not our problem" towards "Kill the *expletive deleted*ers. Kill them all. Kill them again just for the fun of it."
Headlines like this do not make it move any slower.

Mine too, man. I have to remind myself that if we did, we'd have our hands tied, leave again, and it would flare up again as soon as we left
-
And some people wonder why we "gun nuts" want to keep our AR-15s and
hunting "sniper" rifles.

Call me callous, but if journalists were looking out for their own, they'd be reporting exactly what ISIS and ISIL have been up to, in graphic detail, with pictures and putting it on the 6 oclock national news for every American to see, what groups armed by our own state department are up to. We're supposed to be taken aback when a sainted member of the press is killed- woop-de-*expletive deleted*ing-doo.
I saw pictures coming out of syria last week of children being murdered, including a headless body of what looked like a 6-7 year old girl.
That might have destroyed a large chunk of what I had in me for my faith in humanity.

Mine has been pegged already.

ISIS leaders are in the field, surrounded by their own, waging war against everyone around them. This ain't a movie.

So I got this email the other day titled: Headlines from 2059
One of them was: Iran still closed off; physicists estimate it will take at least 10 more years before radioactivity decreases to safe levels

Except Iran opposes ISIS... Not exactly congruent.

Few "journalists" are actually on our side. (And by "our side" I mean the USA specifically and western civilization generally.)

Yeah, I'm getting to the point where I think that genocide might be the only solution to the Mid-East problem. =( :'( :'( :'(

Step 1, let them have their caliphate
Step 2, leaflet the *expletive deleted*it out of the country, telling all non-fuckheads to get out.
Step 3, nuke nuke nuke nuke the crap out of the new caliphate

Good for them.
Also, good for them they only pulled a "Half Carter." (Attempt made & failed, and we did not lose anyone like we did with Desert One.)

Do you actually know the details behind Eagle Claw? You might want to read Col. John H. Kyle's book "The Guts to Try" before you blame the failure on Carter...it's easy to say "Well Carter *expletive deleted*ed up and didn't do what he was supposed to but in this case that was not so.

Checking Wiki, I see among the causes poor training and a lack of capabilities. I wonder who was responsible for a poorly trained, less capable military? (You may go to war, or in the case- rescue, with the Army you have, but the Army you have is a direct result of political decisions.)

News this morning, if credible, had an OBL type raid on a compound in Syria, a gun battle that killed several militants, and no evidence of the hostage. No casualties save for one minor wound to one of the chopper's air crew.

It wasn't Carter in this case, it was the post Vietnam treatment of the military. Eagle Claw happened just a few years after Vietnam...when the military was in a very neglected shape after the end of that war
My understanding was the mission was planned then sent through the chain where it was "improved" by various pencil pushers till it failed
More of trying to make do with what they had, it was to be an arduous mission even with the finest of equipment, which they didn't have.
8 helicopters were launched, 6 made it to the site, Two aborted due to mechanical failures. One aborted at the desert one site due to a hydraulic pump failure. Five were insufficient to carry the mission out, they aborted the mission at that point.
When the remaining helicopters were being refueled to return to the carrier, one was hovertaxing due to a flat tire and due to the extreme sandstorm, was following the ground guide and he inadvertently stepped back and the helicopter followed, smashing into the tanker.

But they didn't rescue anyone, leaving me to wonder if Obama sat on his hands long enough trying to decide yay or nay that the terrs simply moved the hostages elsewhere.

Horrible turn of events..
But..
A US citizen hanging around conflict zones in the Middle East in the 21st century.
This might offend people, but "play stupid games, win stupid prizes" is applicable here.

Yes, I have read accounts. Got one account FTF from a participant.
Carter was POTUS and CIC and cut .mil even more in office. The office of POTUS is more than just a bundle of perks. Sometimes it includes responsibility.
-
Well the good that came out of Eagle Claw was the standing up of the 160TH SOAR. Best damn unit in the world when it comes to flying those aircraft that weren't meant to fly.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure ISIS is not going to blow up the U.S., since I didn't see them at any Tea Party events, or militia meetings.

I've noticed the official rhetoric against the ISIS crowd had ramped up early with talk of how terrible the poor minorities were being treated and how "somebody" needed to do something. The demonization put me in mind of WWII levels of propaganda. Seems like it has slowed down some in the last couple of days.

I think demonization of demons is entirely appropriate.
It's not propaganda when it's true.

They painted Nuns on Christian homes as they drove them out. (Nun= Arabic "N" for Nasrani, the Arabic word for Christian.) I don't have to point out the parallel do I?
They enjoy sawing the heads off their captors. And posting pictures of their young children struggling to hold the severed heads by the hair. Censored, but disturbing nontheless.
ISIS members themselves post proof of their barbarism. The "propaganda" is coming from ISIS.
How is it "demonization" when all we are doing is pointing to their own media?
-
Extremist groups have been receiving support from US allied gulf states and from NATO and 'merica itself ever since Libya.. perhaps even before if you count in 1980s Afghanistan. Of course they aren' t demons until they start acting on their own volition.

The point I seem to have failed to make is that the MSM was engaging in showing the savages in their true guise instead of the usual "not all muslims are terrorists" apologetics. Same from the Obama admin. It had ramped up and then dropped off quite a bit.
Kind of like the Obama Admin had changed it's mind on the appproach they intended to take on ISIS.
