The NYT says assault rifles don't kill people, black males with handguns do, and usually other black males.

The article doesn't mention how many of the "victims" who were killed had criminal records themselves . . . which I suspect would lead a great many people to put those particular deaths into the "good riddance" category, regardless of race.
