I'm sure this bunch has been watching the events.

Of course Obama rightly sided with NATO ally Turkey and called for a step back and a deep breath then poked Putin by criticizing their even being in Syria in the first place.

Nato is supposed to be defensive.  if turkey picks a fight with the czar that is the turks problem.

Anything to protect the "freedom fighters" who are so hard done by they all had to grow long beards, and apparently can only afford rusty knives for "military" use.

So enlighten me.. why does NATO want WWIII?

And enlighten me some more... why are we allowing our "dear leaders" to drag us into WWIII?

The last two world wars were about financial systems going tits up. I can't think of a single major military power that is mearing a major currency crisis where a bubble is going to go BOOM in a big way, can you?

Just all of them.   =D

Although a credible GOP candidate winning in 2016 might create a surge that causes the US GNP and employment to actually somewhat kinda/sorta start matching the monetization of FRN's. And as such, buoy all the other currencies, and stave off the inevitable yet another decade.
I promise not to duck.

If you find those on the Arabian Peninsula you should support them.  Both of them.

Bashar Assad and the Syrian Government would be one of the few camps.

Sounds like rather than "supporting", it's mainly to interdict anyone using the wider conflict as cover for getting into Lebanon and move missiles, or ranged artillery on the northern border of Israel, or up by the Golan Heights on the Northwest corner.

De Selby is in the right on this one.  In the ME, if you want amicable relations between disparate ethnic sorts and religious types, you need a ruthless and mostly secular dictator.  In Syria, that is Bashar Assad.

He might not be the ophthalmologist Syria wants, but he is the ophthalmologist Syria needs.

As much as it pains me to agree with Putin and DeSelby, Assad is the "best"* person for the job in Syria.
