Title: On the 30th anniversary of Tiananmen Square...
Post by: Scout26 on June 05, 2019, 05:45:22 AM
...Democrat Joe Biden once again downplays the risk posed by China.  Didn't his boss start the "Asia Pivot", of course only once Obama had neutralized the Russian Bear. ;/

Biden has a history of bad judgement when it comes to foreign affairs.

Joe Biden has been putting his foot in his mouth for decades.  Democrats never cared.  If he actually becomes the front runner this Fall, we will see if that stuff matters.

Ben Shapiro seems to think Biden's best days as a candidate started when he announced and it will be a downhill path from here.  We will see if he is right.

I tend to agree. I thought Biden would be Trump's biggest competition, but man, he has been saying some dumb stuff, and it seems that the radical socialist base on the dem side has been having more influence than I thought. At this point, I honestly don't know who of the people polling above 0% will end up running against Trump.

I think the majority of Democrats, albeit not the loudest or most visible ones, identify as a center left moderate, and Biden is the closest candidate to that model.  I will be interested to see if that gets him the nomination.

That likely depends on who gets out and votes in the primaries.  I am sure there will be debates this fall also.  We still have a long way to go.

On the Democrat side, remember it also depends on who the Superdelegates vote for.  That means who do the state level party officials and influential donors vote for.  The rank and file party voters amount to a smaller percentage of the total votes.

Also CA moved their primaries way up. I've read a few interesting articles on how that might influence campaign rhetoric from many of the candidates. For instance, less talk about "heartland issues" that they always hit in Iowa, and more talk about farther left progressive issues, just because as it was with Iowa in the past, early winners get a bit of a boost, so they will shmooze that CA base.

Though I suppose it could also hurt them. If Kamala Harris, for instance, can't win her home state of CA, even "second place" will be the same for her as last place.

My understanding is  that there are fewer SuperDelegates at thisn year's convention and cannot vote in the first round of ballots.  They can only vote after the initial round.  If it'z brokered conveontion, then all bets are offf.

I'm wondering how many of the Democratic Party primary debates will be in Spanish . . .

I knew there was talk of changing that stuff, but I didn't think actually had made the changes.  Then again, I don't follow that party.

I think we will get President Biden.

Of course, I'm always wrong about elections, so there is hope!
