A little over $2 a can, which is significantly better than the grocery store price.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EQ5NHE/ref=sw_img_1?tag=slickdeals09-20&ascsubtag=ea0318ae307111eeb721a644d253a3840INT&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
I ordered a 12 pack for the emergency shelf and for winter spam and eggs.

Ha - I did the same thing for the same reasons a few months back. =)

If you have a Sam's card, they currently have SPAM classic 8 packs on an "Instant Savings" special for $17.58 ea. Regular is $22.58.
They also have 6 packs of 12.5 oz canned chicken for $12.84. Keep lots of those around.

$2.20/can actually matches the price at Sam's which is sort of unusual for Amazon.

Oh boy! Double the anuses!
That's one thing I'm not particularly worried about on Amazon. The blow back for carrying counterfeit food products can be absolutely extreme. Amazon does a pretty good job at policing that, it seems, at least in the United States.

For anybody wondering…
SPAM is Smoked Pork and Meat. According to my sister in law, retired from a career working for Hormel, it’s actually quite good quality with none of the nasty bits people think it contains.

Spam isn't smoked, or at least it wasn't until the Hickory Smoked version was introduced in the 1990s. It's got a very mild smoke flavoring, really just a hint, but I've always thought that that could be the other spices giving that impression.
And yes, just like hot dogs, Spam gets a lot of guff for being "made from anything that's not considered edible!" Which is absolute bullshit.
While Spam isn't my favorite food, there are times and situations when I really enjoy it. Spam and eggs brings back very fond memories of winter camping with the Scouts when I was a kid.
A sliced Spam and cheese sandwich can be a tasty change from my normal ham and cheese.
And believe it or not, cubed fried spam with rice sweet chili or sweet and sour sauce is a damned good toss together dinner.

Khrushchev said that without Spam there would have been times that Russian wouldn't have been able to feed the Red Army.
Spam was also widely distributed to the British under Lend Lease food aid.

I'm pretty sure you can get spam and eggs at Hawaii McDonalds, the same as you can get linguica there. The latter because of the Portuguese connection.

What do y'all think of the bacon spam? I have a couple cases of that in my hurricane stash. SPAM seems like one of the cheaper ways to add meat to your long term food storage. I haven't gotten around to eating any yet. I guess I need to do that.

The bacon flavor is so mild I hardy noticed it.
It's okay but if you're expecting it to taste like bacon rather than spam you'll be disappointed. It taste like reg spam with a bit of bacon flavor thrown in.

Ok. So the $10 per case difference may not be worth it.

I tend to thin slice and pan fry my spam and that may effect how much of the bacon flavor is detected so your mileage may vary on whether or it's worth it.

I was planning to use that method myself.

I don't remember ever eating SPAM before. I have been a little leary mainly as E.B. Sledge didn't have the best descriptions of SPAM in the Pacific during WWII. I'll get over it. =)

By coincidence my friend wanted to visit a Polish-American grocery a few towns over. They had a lot of Eastern European offerings including Czech beer (yay!) and canned goods. I bought a can of Russian Tushonka because it's featured in the Stalker video game series as a staple food (initially referred to as Tourist's Breakfast). It was expensive, $17/24oz, but I've always wanted to try it. Haven't yet, but I can report the results.

The "говядина," or "beef" part of the label leads me to believe that it's actual cow muscle. FWIW, the can itself does say "100% beef" on the back. I suppose I'll know for sure when I open it, as the appearance should be obvious which version it is.
-
MMMMMmmmmmm...
Spam and eggs for breakfast.
-
I think the last time I had eaten Spam was when I was stationed at Kaneohe Bay MCAS in the '70s. Don't recall liking it all that much back then. Went to the local VFW with my Dad for the Saturday morning breakfast yesterday. One of the vets there is Hawaiian and he makes sure there is fried Spam available. I tried some and it was surprisingly good.
-
The local mennonite cheese store sells good canned beef. Think I have more of that than Spam right now. But a sucker for any canned meat.
-
Spam is just too salty for my taste.
I have canned chicken (12.5 oz.) from Aldi's, frozen breaded chicken patties and meatballs that I can add to canned pasta, those Knorr noodles sides, or to canned soups. I also have 12 oz. tubes of frozen pork & bacon sausage that I brown up and use the same ways. Then there are the 16 oz. canned hams that I dice or cube up to add to scrambled eggs, noodles dishes, some soups, etc.
-
Yep, Spam is salty.
But thank goodness I have it right now because a little Spam on top of some food entices Seren to eat enough so that she has food in her stomach for her antibiotics.
-
Spam is just too salty for my taste.
That's interesting. The Spam I had at the VFW wasn't very salty at all. I wonder if it was a low salt version? My wife has been cutting back for quite a while on the amount of salt she uses in cooking. (It's a blood pressure thing for her.) It's gotten to the point where what was a normal amount of salt back in the day is too salty for us now.
-
All I will buy is the lowER salt version.
-
Spam is just too salty for my taste.
Boil it for 5 minutes, or let it soak in cold water for about 1/2 hour. It removes most of the salt, and doesn't really affect anything else.
-

Same here. I haven't added salt to food (except for baking bread) in years as I get enough from the "processed foods" I do eat. Canned soup is notoriously high in salt but I only eat it in winter. I also add 3-4 oz. of frozen vegetables (pre-cooked) to the soup and let them diminish the percentage-by-volume of salt.
-

Hhmm, that's interesting. Thanks! I'll keep that in mind. =)
One question - do you cut the spam up BEFORE you boil/soak it, or after?? ???
-
You'll remove a LOT more salt if you cut the spam into final serving slices before you soak it.
-
My mac'n'cheese...
I get the kind with the envelope of gooey cheesey whatever... No powder/milk combo.
I add crushed pepper flakes during the boil. Then I strain, back into the pan, dump in about 1/3 of the cheesey whatever, a package of bacon pieces (Aldi), a little cayenne pepper, and a heaping handful of shredded pepper cheese. Some stirring is required.
-
Yes, slice it first.
-
I soaked it in hot water for over an hour and it's STILL so darned salty!
Uhm... you do realize that's a salt lick block for cows and not Spam, right?
Aren't they the same thing?

I gave the Kirkland canned chunk chicken breast at Costco a try a few months back, and that stuff is awesome for chicken tacos. I ended up adding three six packs to the larder rotation (use one, keep two in reserve, rotate). I might actually add a couple more six packs, as I use it a good bit, and I just checked and the "best by" date on my most current pack is FEB, 2027, so they should be ok for a good bit beyond that.
I'm sure there are other brands of it equally as good.

The little old kinda crazy lady that I help complained that SPAM keeps calling her and she doesn’t know why. She has a landline with caller ID.
When I was a teenager I worked for a farmer. His wife would bring fried spam sandwiches and chips out to us sometimes for lunch. They were the best. Skillet fried bread and spam with American cheese slices and mustard or mayo.
My sister in law is a retired food scientist that worked for Hormel. She said SPAM stands for “smoked pork and meat” and they don’t use pig buttholes or anything gross in it (contrary to street rumors).
Armour on the other hand was using “everything but the squeal” since WW2.
-
"they don’t use pig buttholes or anything gross in it (contrary to street rumors).
Armour on the other hand was using “everything but the squeal” since WW2."
NEITHER company uses offal in the production of either SPAM or Treet.
All of that is likely GI jokes from World War II in which both products were supplied not only to US troops but factored heavily in Lend/Lease to Britain and Russia.
The main difference between SPAM and Treet is... chicken. Treet uses a blend of pork and white (and apparently some dark) meat chicken. No beaks, no feathers, no bullshit like that. Just chicken.
-
A lot of the offal goes to pet food manufacturers, usually processed down to broth or meal and used as a nutritional additive and flavoring agent.
