I'm considering buying a new knife, a CRKT M16-14D.

What are your opinions on it?

Not my kind of knife, but it is made by a reputable manufacturer, with a quality blade steel. Probably a good bet.

I like those.  I have owned a couple of those knives and they are worth the money.  My blades tend to get eaten by acid(I work for a battery company) so I have taken to carrying cheaper knives at work, but the CRKTs are a great middle-ground between cost and quality.

The AutoLAWKS thing took some getting used to, but after a few days it's natural and you can one-hand it.

Do buy.

On my CRKT, the AutoLAWKS is removable, so I could convert it to a standard liner lock. Which I did.

Knife snobs look down on them, but in reality, they're good solid knives that will do what 99.9% of knife users ask of them.

The only potential downside, aside from the extra lock on them, is their looks could be the tipping point in some kind of LEO interaction, as opposed to a multi-tool, or case/buck folder with wooden or stag scales etc.

However, my EDC "big blade" is an old Emerson Super CQC7 from 96, back when he was still partnered with Benchmade, so I'm not one to really preach.
I promise not to duck.

Good knife, but CRKT makes even better ones.....I like the Crawford and Kaspar-designed knives....check out their whole catalog before you buy....
