Selfie-incriminating

According to investigators, many of the suspects posted images of themselves inside the residence on Twitter.

“They were bragging about the party, showing themselves within the residence and carrying stolen property,” Murakami said.

Following a two-week investigation, sheriff’s detectives at the Industry station identified 18-year-olds Nickolas Koontz, Kevin Larios and Andres Uribe, all residents of La Habra, and 13 juveniles, aged 15-17, as suspects.

All of the suspects reportedly live in Whittier or La Habra, and were arrested Wednesday morning for burglary and trespassing after deputies served four search warrants.

I guess social media is useful, after all.

It never fails to amaze, not surprise...just amaze, me that anyone would be so monumentally stupid that they would do something along those lines AND take picture/video of the act AND post it for the world to see.

I was young and (more) stupid once too, and did my share of things that would have landed me in hot water. But the thought never occurred to me "hey, it's so awesome we're breaking the law...lets take pictures and admit to it and post it all over the place!" And if one of the similarly young and stupid folks with me had that idea they'd have likely not had it for long.
That is all. *expletive deleted*ck you all, eat *expletive deleted*it, and die in a fire. I have considered writing here a long parting section dedicated to each poster, but I have decided, at length, against it. *expletive deleted*ck you all and Hail Satan.

I think much of the youth today are not raised knowing the difference between "right" and "wrong". They know they are not supposed to do some things, because of someone's arbitrary and silly rules but, they don't think they are doing "wrong". Lord of the Flies effect.
Personally, I do not understand how a bunch of people demanding a bigger govt can call themselves anarchist.

Agreed. And this begins in the schools, where discipline takes a back seat to not damaging the poor little delinquents' sense of self-esteem.

What's the saying? "Morality is doing what's right even when nobody is watching"? Some people today are so amoral that they don't do what's right even when the world is watching.

I'm guessing the relatively low number of available stuffed snow leopards has more to do with the price, than the mammal-mortician's fee.

Stop blaming the schools.  They do enough damage, but this one goes deeper than the schools.

Blame the parents.  http://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2004/07/csby-j14.html and http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/entertainment/july-dec04/cosby_7-15.html and most importantly this http://www.eightcitiesmap.com/transcript_bc.htm

Didn't this happen awhile back at some football players house?

The dudes house was trashed. In the end, several of the kids came back and helped him clean up and apologised.

That one made national news.

With all the examples already out there of stupid people taking pictures of themselves doing stupid things, you have to wonder at the kid who thought it was a good idea.

OTOH, at least they can catch the little bastards and make 'em pay.

It was in New York and no, not "several" out of the scores of miscreants. One. One of the youths came and apologized and helped clean up. The rest, he is now pressing charges.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

Right. I thought it was cool they guy didn't press charges against the one who came and apolgiesed.
It really adds a nice little burn to the ones getting in trouble.

Aren't snow leopards on the endangered list? That would drive the price up I'd think. If none are being hunted legally, the dead & taxidermied ones would obviously fetch high prices.

It wouldn't be worth anything close to $250,000, but it's a good idea nonetheless.

Yeah, I think it was Babba Wawwa who asked one of them that:

If I remember right, it all started when one of them was featured in an adult entertainment video, which is why I mentioned her.

Yes, but that wasn't the first time - some years back, this happened at Richard Garriot's residence - he's the video game bigwig (the Ultima games) who spent $20,000,000 for a Soyuz trip to the ISS. Bunch of idiots broke into his place and took pictures of themselves partying . . . and forgot to take the camera with them when they left.  They caught the perps right away.

Another time, Garriot actually confronted & captured a burglar . . . while carrying his Uzi.   =D  (Police got him, too.)

As for the value of a snow leopard mount . . . it's probably inflated because AFAIK they can't be hunted any more, much like Siberian or Bengal tigers. ($250,000 STILL seems mighty high.)
