A grizzly bear in Banff, Canada, has been charging people, and recently wandered through a girls rugby practice session. Relocation failed -- the bear was back where it started within a few days. Wildlife authorities think they may have to euthanize it. Naturally, TUS (the usual suspects) have started a petition protesting the possibility of killing the bear protecting the public, because ... well, because "She is just as much of a local as I am, or Stacey is, or anybody else in this town," said [Bree] Todd, who has lived in the area for 11 years. "And she deserves the same respect as everybody else."
I wouldn't expect any other sort of comment from someone who was named after a cheese.

I bet they'll change their mind as soon as her or one of the other locals become bear scat....

Yep. The authorities should tell the people, "As you wish."

And give the bear a list of the people who signed the petition.

Leave it to Canadia to screw up rugby. Even as pansified as the Brits are, I suspect they'd have called a 99 on that punk bear and made it wish for euthanasia.
As for the petition, require it to take the form of an acceptance of liability; you sign it, you share the cost of any damage or injury the bear causes.
