Win 10 users, check your update histories. Win 10 Security Update KB4524244 is causing headaches, especially for users of HP machines or any machine set up with a "Press For Reboot" button.

Removal is quick and easy. I've done it on all my machines with no problems.

I've been reading about that one. Apparently it can delete things off your desktop :O -- not so bad if it just removes links and shortcuts; could be devestating if you have actual files or programs stored there (and I usually do have a few on my desktop)

Well, now it's not just a security update, it's a full Windows system update that's been identified. System update KB4532693. Looks like it dropped somewhere Feb 10-14, 2020.
I've already uninstalled it on all our home machines. Takes a bit but otherwise uneventful.

I'm starting to think Windows 10 is a security glitch and should be uninstalled.

Windows 10 Update Starts Causing Serious Problems. Microsoft released Windows 10 KB4532693 security update which is known to revert some system settings to default settings, in the process it also removes data and files from the users desktop. Lots of users have complained that Windows 10 has renamed the main user profile folder. These files can be restored from a user profile folder ending in .000 or .bak name. There has also been reports of the desktop going black and the start menu showing up empty. I removed the update from my system until the problem is fixed.
Remember: Its your responsibility to always keep back up of your data.
