Any good web folks out there willing to work cheap? Smiley

Our webpage needs some serious work but its beyond my abilities and its tough to get a volunteer to work on it regularly.

I'm more of a web-programmer then a web-designer.

Is it functional but looks like crap?  Or does it look ok, but not work like it's suppose to?

The question is how cheap is cheap? I do web pages but I do have my minimum price.

Minimum price is ok. We just can't afford a lot. On the other hand, we're not expecting miracles.

How comfortable are you with using Word or Publisher? You know you could probably do this website yourself, most web editors are no harder than using MS Word or MS Publisher. The hardest part is making sure than you upload any pictures that you add to the site most of the time.

I use a program called Dreamweaver for 90% of the stuff that I do on the web. I have taught a few of my coworkers how to edit some pages just to reduce my workload and they really aren't the most web/computer savvy people out there.

Heh..yeah, I do it now and look at it. Smiley

Mostly, its a design thing. I can update it if necessary or get someone else to. But I have no creative abilities at all.

Got a community college or university in your area? Might be able to get it done for free if you can find an intern.

Sounds like you need a graphic web designer.

If I were you(tm),  I would format it similar to the following:

http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~ncleone/

This is one of the templates I design from somtimes.  I usually take out the table borders for a cleaner look and feel.

Nice clean template Nick. Not bad for a Boilermaker Wink

Clean and simple like the one Nick linked to are best. Your site is overloaded with graphics and cutesy stuff like this on the homepage. It's okay to show RKBA folks as "everyday", but you still have to maintain a bit of decorum. Polite Society and all that. Otherwise, visitors won't take you seriously.

Think of it like a newspaper. The important stuff goes on the front page above the fold (near the top) and everything else is below that or on a separate page that is linked.

This should be right under your banner:
"SAFR is a Michigan firearms rights organization. We were founded on the idea that active involvement is the best way to protect our gun rights and through grass roots and working with other groups, we are making positive changes in Michigan. Please join us! "

Just my .02

And in case you somehow failed to read the first post, I'm looking to hire someone to do web design, not looking for your suggestions on our seriousness or lack thereof.

Barbara, I'm not a designer. That's why I pay people to design sites for me.

But I do the construction of the site once I get the basic design.

Depending upon your timeframe, I could help. However, the next few weeks are going to be consumed with election stuff.

I would consider taking it on, but it wouldn't be finished for a few months.

It would be built into the same basic template like I liked to eariler.  Something like:

Odd.  I know they are valid links and the permissions are right, do you get an error message?

I can do pages but I'm not good enough for me to rationalize charging for them lol

Plus it is ten times easier and faster to just rebuild a webpage then to complely redesign it IMO.

I never liked how most pages are made....least not building them.  I am lazy and use framesets lol.
That is all. *expletive deleted*ck you all, eat *expletive deleted*it, and die in a fire. I have considered writing here a long parting section dedicated to each poster, but I have decided, at length, against it. *expletive deleted*ck you all and Hail Satan.

Barbara , I went through a good bit of the site and wasn't displeased with the general design , some stuff needs fixed * but overall not a bad experience. The calender is a good feature and it appears up to date, latest news is linked right up top and seems current , maybe just spiff up the homepage a little but the content seems good.

*Some thumbnails in the photo section just lead to the same thumbnail when clicked rather than the larger photo.
