Title: The school shootings narrative takes another hit
Post by: Scout26 on August 29, 2018, 01:43:42 AM
US Dept of Education reports that there were approx 240 school shootings last year.  NPR hires a Non-partisan, Non-profit to confirm those numbers by contacting the schools in question.  They are able to confirm....11 with over 2/3rds of the schools saying the incidents never happened.

You'd think this would be a big story showing how dishonest some in the gun control movement are.

I was just about to start a thread on this.

So "gun safety" groups will run right out and trumpet this, right? I mean, this means the war on gun violence is being won, right?

The world has gone all Topsy-turvy. The Department of Education is currently headed by a Trump appointee, who if not the devil incarnate herself is certainly in league with the devil incarnate (according to the leftists), and NPR is generally viewed as being hopelessly leftist.

So DaVos's DOE fabricated these statistics, and NPR blew the whistle on them? It's a good thing I'm sitting down, because hy head is spinning fast enough that if I stood up I'm sure I'd be too dizzy to remain vertical.

Just because DeVos is SecEd doesn't mean that it's still not filled with thousands of leftist types.

The fact that the numbers they use was inaccurate doesn't come as a shock, knowing the left uses things like a suicide on a closed down schools parking lot for their numbers. But never would of figured it was this wrong.

Yeah, I know ... deep state. And I agree, that's almost certainly the problem.

Which is why it is best to just get rid of the agency all together rather than try to reform it.

May be that DoE was looking for more funding - got to update all the schools with the latest hi-tech gadgets.

I wonder how many of those 240 school shootings involved a drawing of a gun, a banana, or a pop tart?

The banana-flavored pop-tart - fires a thirty-caliber clip in half a second.

That's actually a really good question. Here's the actual question on the questionnaire:

Quote
It asked what sounded like a simple question:

In the 2015-2016 school year, "Has there been at least one incident at your school that involved a shooting (regardless of whether anyone was hurt)?"

I would not at all be surprised, given what I read about some teachers and zero tolerance in certain school districts, if "involved in a shooting" was very liberally defined, or even misunderstood. The thought process could easily have gone from "shooting" = "gun violence" = "pop tart"="zero tolerance"="shooting incident (where no one was hurt)"

Why was a survey used?  People lie on surveys all of the time.
