snowmageddon 2018
« on: February 05, 2018, 10:21:27 AM »
First real snow for our region this winter besides a light 3" at Christmas. Forecast is for 8" later today with more coming behind it. and its cold.
Plenty of food on hand, LP, gas for the gen if needed, and diesel for the tractor. Brought the old 4x4 F250 into town this morning and will fill the tank before heading home to shelter in. Plenty of good seasoned split oak in the woodshed.
Looks like I will get a chance to try out the most awesome new upgraded LED lights on my Kubota utility tractor moving snow around. I got about 16 thousand lumens and I'm pretty sure it could be seen from space.
What we have here is failure to communicate.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Yeah, kind of a pet peeve of mine.  Assuming one's readers are also mind readers.  An asteroid hit nearby this morning.  Made a hell of a racket and a big assed hole in the ground.  Impact fragmentation rose to 30,000 feet.  Took out part of the highway, too.

Back to weather:  Lately my weather rock outside has been telling me a completely different story from what the professional weatherpeople are saying.  Really bad predictions; 'way off base. "Our computer models show sunny and mild."

Meantime, my weather rock is white.

Not too far from me.

Schools were letting out when I came back to work after lunch.  Right now I'm the last one here, and we usually close at 5.

Drove home last night max 25mph on the highway in 4wd. A couple cars off the road or in trouble on the hills.
ended up w 9" of white stuff. Roads are good today but more snow coming tonight and later this week.
The new LEDs on the tractor are really nice! I moved enough snow to get in and out but I'll have to clear the rest of the drive and make room for more.

Which lights did you get?  I have a pair of floods mounted on the ROPS bar that easily plugged in to the tractor’s electrical system.

Ironton mini floods x2 to the rear (mounted at the ROPs hinges) and a Northpole CREE lightbar combo spot/flood on the top of the ROPs facing front. I fabbed a bracket and rubber shock mounted it on top. I think I'm going to mount 2 more mini floods down the sides. Its not really in shadow but there is so much light front and rear that it makes the lateral area seem dark.
