Wow! That's fantastic. Except for the whole standing on a range where ricochets are a regular occurrence bit...

We get ricochets like that occasionally... as equipment ages, it happens.

They don't have any energy left, usually it's a quarter-sized flat of lead coming at you at tossing speed. I've been hit with one square in the chest, if someone had thrown a penny at me I'd not have known the difference.

I a free state I wouldn't slow down to look, too run-down looking. That'd be my loss, that guy is my new hero.

A well principled one, but a slob.

Well, that just brought a smile to my face.

Brass balls, indeed!

Also, that whole "urban prairie" phenomenon is interesting.  You can see it if you go to maps.google.com and enter "752 chene, detroit, MI" into the search space and then drill down.

Dear Mother of Pearl! :O

The guy in the blue jacket is out there without eye protection!!!  I've only seen that in Texas.

Holy cow.

He's got the right mindset in pretty much everything.

If there were more people like him, we'd have a lot less concerns about everything from gun control to race relations.

Unsafe is unsafe.  Cannot believe they allow that unsafe behavior in Yankeeland.

Needs to be pointed out wherever it transpires.

He might simply be posing for a photo.

Also, they misspelled "cojones" on the brass balls award.

I guarantee you almost all of the houses that used to sit on those lots either burned down in the riots of '67, or were set ablaze sometime afterwards, often as "insurance jobs".  Nobody bothers to rebuild in Detroit, because property is nearly worthless.

We need more inner city pro-gun types like him over here at APS and the high road. I couldn't find any type of email link, but I would love to drop him a line.

There definitely a group that is rarely heard of in the mainstream media. A guy I used to work with was a Deacon at a church in Detroit and was very pro-gun. He was telling me of another Deacon who carried 5 guns on him at all times(!). I guess when you have to lock a building in the middle of a horrible horrible neighborhood, you don't want to worry so much about reloading.
"The people in the gun culture have a better safety record than any police department in the nation, but in
several states actually prohibit us from using guns for self-protection, and in all the other states except one
they make us buy a license. They tax us so we can have more cops, and when crime still goes up, they tax
us more and ban more of our guns."

Er, yeah, there might be pockets of inner city Texas that REMOTELY resemble the nicer parts of Detroit, but yeah, no....uhhh...no.

You missed the point.  I was referring to the attitude of the residents of either place.
Let me give you an example:

Q.   How do you know someone is from Texas?
A.   They tell you within thirty seconds of meeting them.

Q.   How do you know someone is from Detroit?
A.   They tell you within thirty seconds of meeting them.

Despite all a places shortcomings, there are still folks that cannot fathom living anywhere else, due to the geographic name's part in the individual's identity.
