Title: Windows 8 Release Preview - oh dear.
Post by: Perd Hapley on September 23, 2012, 05:46:52 PM
It's pretty, but boy is it goofy. Some these apps (or app previews) that I try to look at just turn up a blank, white screen.

My brother's been running the beta for a while. He likes it, except for the startup app screen which is kind of stupid for a desktop. Hopefully they will allow you to start it up "normally" and skip the app screen.

Better than a blue screen I guess.

I just want to know why I can't access any applications from the desktop, other than Internet Explorer.  =|

Because this is the newer, better, super-improved version of Windows. The new vision of personal computing.

Being able to access your applications where you can find them easily is SOOOOOOO last year ...

There's a free start menu to add to W8.  I use it.

This find-the-correct-pixel-exactly-at-the-lower-corner menu system is likely to result in ADA lawsuits against Microsoft.  I might file one myself.  If they can have a pixel at the lower left that restores the Metro-turned-not-Metro screen then they could have just put a button there.

Whoops... I forgot the link.
