Had to make a run to the local Borders to pick up a magazine for SWMBO, so while I am there I start cruising the usual sections.

While going through the military history section I ran across a book called "Citizen Soldiers" by Stephen Ambrose. Skimmed through it and read a page or so and it seemed interesting.

Looking for any feedback for people who have read his stuff. I have heard the name before but don't know anything about him.

Buy it!

I've got most of his works.  The late Mr. Ambrose was a very accurate author, and was, as stated previously, the author of Band of Brothers.

Despite him being a proven plagiarist throughout his career I've enjoyed several of his books including Citizen Soldiers, which picks up where his D-DAY ends.  Band of Brothers is a must read.

I enjoyed Citizen Soldiers, BOB, D-Day and also the one he wrote about the building of the trans-continental railway, the title of which escapes me at the moment.

No I haven't been living under a rock for the last few years. Cheesy

After I drop and give myself twenty, it's off to the book store.

The way I buy books, those two statements are surprisingly compatible.

Azrael, I used to be like that too. I needed one of those library carts to walk around the store with. Lately, I have been so busy that I manage to stay in the store only long enough to add a couple more books to the list of books I'm going to read "one of these days".
