Electric Utility crews from Alabama go up to help restore electric lines in New Jersey.  They are told thanks but no thanks since they don't have union cards.

F'em.  Let 'em sit in the dark...
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Our local radio talkshow host Dale Jackson was interviewing a rep from Hunstville Utilities this morning.  This rep said this report is NOT true, they were re-directed to Long Island from their original destination, where they had plenty of help from neighboring companies .... in fact, too much as their communication systems were beginning to suffer.
Muscle Shoals (??) Utilities were also redirected.
At the end of the program, Dale Jackson said that Decatur Utilities vehicles had, in fact, turned around.  There were no spokesmen from DU to report what happened, or if it was due to there being plenty of extra help there already, or "union clashes."
So, in fairness, it may in fact be that the Decatur squad returned due to being non-union.  But this doesn't explain why the other municipality's service vehicles were simply re-directed, not returned.
I don't know what the full story is, but it's more complicated than what has been reported.

*SIGH* .... yeah, what I was getting at is there appears to be an inaccuracy in the report, rather than just "something" being left out. ;/

It wouldn't surprise me. A friend of mine used to shoot ad photos for the Milwaukee Bucks at the Milwaukee Arena. There had to be a union electrician present to plug in my friend's lights.  ;/

i bet they are making union wages while they are up here.  NY has a law that makes any contractor, working for a municipality, pay union scale to their employees.  takes the competition right out of bidding.

They could have came to my town. Still have not seen 1 utility crew.
I needed a mod to change my signature because the concept of "family friendly" eludes me.
Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

i almost got in a fist fight at a food show with a shop steward. i held the bottom of a 12 foot stepladder while one of "his boys" changed a bulb.   gotta have a card for that in new york
It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

And meanwhile, in a case of thread veer, CT power crews are being pelted with eggs because the Bridgeport mayor got the citizenry in an uproar claiming the power crews were only turning power on for the 1%. Predictably, the crews stopped work in Bridgeport until they had guarantees they wouldn't be attacked while repairing the grid.
