Wounded soldier
« on: February 15, 2006, 02:18:49 PM »
A young man who has season tickets in our section at Grand Rapids Griffins Hockey games joined the service and was deployed to Iraq.  During a firefight in a house he was wounded badly.  He was shot several times in the chest and saved by his vest.  In the process one ear was shot off as was a finger.  When he came to, the firefight was still hot and when he groaned, a terrorist raked him with a AK across his thighs in an attempt to kill him.  Our troops prevailed and he was rescued.   At last word, it was uncertain whether he would be able to walk again.

I would like you to all keep him your prayers.  His name is Justin.

Thanks

Done.

I'm in Ramadi with 3/7 Wpns Co. May I ask where he's at? Haven't heard of anything like this going down in our AO, but I try to stay informed.

Balog,

First:  be careful and accept my humble and grateful thanks for your service to our nation.  Pass along my felicitations to your comrades as well.  Is there anything you folks need?  Let me know and I'll see that you get it.

Last night at the hockey game some other fans in our section were passing around a get well card regarding this, and it was the first I'd heard.  We're going to a game again Saturday and I'll try and get some details and post them.  The lady who is the usher is organizing a support group amongst our section and I'll also e mail her and see if she has any info as well.

Thanks all.

Glad to hear he's back stateside. Hope his family can get to him w/out too much expense.

Grampster: thank you. We're actually nearing the end of our deployment, so I don't need anything other than prayer.

PS I love hockey too.

Look toward the States, Balog.  That great wave of light you see are the myriad prayers sent forth daily to wash over you guys; to envelope you in safety and grace.

God Bless You.

Change the address to put a comma after Ft. Sam Houston and add TX, same zip.
Leave off the last line of the address.  That was a miscomunication.
