Capitol Hill's 'leftist agenda' in the crosshairs

Most observers expect Washington will be leaning to the left as Barack Obama and liberal Democrats are sworn into office. Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) spokesman Mike Johnson comments on the situation.
"Many of [coming into office] said, including the new president and vice president, that they were committed to pursuing damaging policy changes that will harm Americans," he explains. "We're ready to go to court, at the Alliance Defense Fund, to fight the vast number of these leftist policies that have been promised -- and we expect they will make good on those promises."
Johnson notes some areas that will be watched closely. "The last few decades there have been some incremental strides made in the pro-life arena, in the arena of defending religious liberty and the traditional family, and all of that is back on the table now," he adds. "You know, this looming leftist agenda out of Washington is determined to set the clock back and to take away many of the strides that have been made."
ADF lists several "looming leftist agenda" items it will be monitoring, including repeal of the federal Defense of Marriage Act, and enactment of the Freedom of Choice Act, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), the Matthew Shepard Act, and the so-called "Fairness Doctrine."
