The Roundtable / Ukrainian Anti-Drone Shotguns
« Last post by Ben on Today at 10:41:41 AM »
The Ukis are apparently buying Turkish BTS-12 shotguns for anti-drone defense. So much for a worthwhile use of American taxpayer dollars. At least a Ukrainian Oligarch can buy himself a new yacht with the kickback ducats from the Turks.

The Roundtable / Oh Oh, Chongo! Danger Island
« Last post by Ben on Today at 09:50:51 AM »
I recently learned that I'm not a Boomer and am actually Generation Jones, for which there is a Reddit sub that has been bringing back a ton of memories from when I was a kid.

This morning it was the Banana Splits and the live action "show within a show" they did called Danger Island, featuring a young Jan Michael Vincent. Until this morning I had forgotten all about it, but it opened up a ton of memories, like I remember that the black guy had some stick that was like a Swiss Army knife stick, and I now remember duplicating it the best that an eight year old could, having all kinds of adventures in the backyard.

Anyway, there's no way this non-woke (and it was probably considered woke at the time) kid's show would be on the air today.

I half won a ticket at a speed trap in DC a couple of weeks after I moved down here from Pennsylvania.

Took photo evidence of the sign... it was badly faded, twisted partially so it couldn't really be seen, and was also badly stained.

Judge cut the fine in half and no points. Fine with me.

The war of attrition seems to have dropped out of the headlines.

Russia's inability to maintain a long sustained operation appears to have been oversold to us.

Many years ago, I learned a "trick" that let me win 50%-75% of any traffic ticket I was issued.  Show up in court.  You may have to do it twice as, despite the tickets having a form on the back to "avoid multiple appearances", there isn't a single judge that follows that and you will have to go twice.
Usually, the cases are dismissed on that second visit as the cops don't show up.

I went to court once for a traffic ticket that I got in a totally corrupt speed trap in I think like 1982. I took photos of the reduced speed sign blocked by a tree where the cops set up and had a whole defense setup. When it was my turn to go before the judge, I think I got to talk for like ten seconds before he stopped me and said "guilty as charged".

About six months later, a local attorney sued the city over the speed trap (which was an ongoing thing) and won. Too late for me, but at least others didn't get caught in the corrupt money making scheme by the city.

The Roundtable / Re: "Fallout" on Amazon Prime

Those bombs in the opening scene were awfully low yield (Davy Crocketts?) and it's interesting that they were ground bursts.

I'm about 5 or 6 episodes in.  I'm beginning to think Vault Tec might have been behind the initial blasts, then it got out-of-hand.

The Ghoul is the only really interesting character so far.  Lucy has too much plot armor.  Maximus hasn't been developed enough yet but might be eventually.

The Dog is absolutely gorgeous.

I like the old-timey music, even tho' I don't know some of it. Maybe especially because I don't know some of it but I know a lot of it.

I haven’t seen this scene but one of the core weapons in the Fallout games is the Fat Man mini nuke launcher, heavily inspired by the Davey Crockett

Stopped by my local grocery this morning to pick up some bagels and cream cheese.

The normal cadre of pickers was going around the store grabbing people's online orders.

I realized they're wearing these armbands with almost a minitablet on it, which they're using to keep track of the orders they're picking.

I guess the Grocery-Tec Corporation has invented a real-life Pip-Boy...

 >:D You know how cockroaches scatter like mad when a light is turned on at night?

How quickly would these "encampments" scatter if multiple packs of firecrackers, esp. those "long chain" types (500 plus) bundles were thrown in their midst?
