Hee hee...the moonbats are already whining at hopeychangey...

Obama Throws No Bones to Progressive Base
By Matthew Rothschild, November 19, 2008

When is Obama going to appoint someone who reflects the progressive base that brought him to the White House?

He won the crucial Iowa caucuses on the strength of his anti-Iraq War stance, and many progressive peace and justice activists worked hard for him against John McCain.

So why in the world is he choosing Hillary Clinton to be Secretary of State when she was one of the loudest hawks on Iraq and threatened to obliterate 75 million Iranians?

And it’s not just Hillary.

Obama’s OMB pick, Peter Orzag, is a Clintonite disciple of Robert Rubin.

Obama’s AG pick, Eric Holder, is a Clintonite who represented Chiquita Bananas.

And Larry Summers’s name is still being bandied about for Treasury, even though Summers, while Clinton’s Treasury Secretary, forced the deregulation of our financial markets and imposed disaster capitalism on Russia.

Worse still, heading Obama’s transition team on intelligence matters are two former deputies to George Tenet, of all people. (See Amy Goodman’s great story about this on Democracy Now!)

Look, there are a lot of talented progressives who could be in an Obama cabinet.

Joseph Stiglitz is a Nobel Prize-winner in economics and a critic of corporate globalization. He should be Treasury Secretary.

Senator Russ Feingold is a champion of civil liberties. He should be Attorney General.

Robert Greenstein is head of Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. He would make a much better OMB director.

Arlene Holt Baker, executive vice president of the AFL-CIO, would be a tremendous Secretary of Labor.

And if Obama really wanted change, if he really wanted to honor progressives who backed him early on and then did the grunt work against McCain, he’d nominate Dennis Kucinich as Secretary of State.

That sure would indicate a welcome departure from empire as usual.

But at this point, progressives are getting absolutely nothing from Obama.

That's like saying Robert Mugabe is a champion of the family farmer who embraces diversity.

Feingold was McCain's partner-in-crime with the McCain-Feingold First Amenedment Repeal Act, aka Campaign Finance Reform.

What nonsense these people spout.

As for Kucinich . . . it's hard to visualize him in any position with actual responsibility.

'S what I'm sayin'.   ;/

As Mark Levin put it, he's picking Clinton goons because he doesn't know anybody else.  He's still wet behind his big ears.

On the other hand, the whole thing is a little silly.  Where is a left-wing Democratic president going to find Secretaries and staff that haven't worked for large corporations, or don't have ties to the last Dem. president?  Should he hire a bunch of people that no one has ever heard of, and are as green as he is?  Of course not.  That might be actual change of the Sarah Palin variety.

Let's put it this way - unless you're talking hatemongers and Klansmen, I'd rather have JBS 'wackos' in charge than RINOs. I believe a lot of people on this forum will agree with me.

Why not? If people want change, give it to them. With his hair trigger temper, Russ Feingold would make a fine secretary of state. Barbara Streisand might be an interesting choice for secretary of defense. Sally Fields played a farmer in a movie or two, so put her in charge of the department of agriculture. And, since George Soros pretty much bought the presidency, why not let him buy the country by making him treasury secretary?

Do you mean guys like Klansmen?

Most folks don't perceive any threat from the kluxers, despite SPLC and others' attempts to puff up that paper tiger clown hat.  Kinda like Abe Foxman of the ADL finding anti-semites under every bed...but ignoring those anti-semites who are, you know, actually dangerous and expressly killing Jews for being Jews.

There are right wing wackos, but the right wing of America is not as tolerant of its wackos as the left is, as there is no right-wing corollary to "No enemies to the left.".  They get run out of polite company and marginalized quickly.  Bill Buckley set the standard back in the 1950s and early 1960s: no anti-semitic or racist or anti-American types in mainstream American conservatism.

Some thought he was not selective enough and gave some good folks their walking papers.  I think they have a point, but nobody else was willing or able to do the necessary housecleaning.

The thing about the JBS-ers is that they may have some conspiracy theory tinfoil hattery, but it is of a fairly harmless sort.  Commies in the gov't?  Well, investigate & find them out.  And, since there were a lot of commies in the gov't, maybe less tinfoil and more, uh, "leather hattery?"  And if we pull out of the UN, what are the material repercussions?  Fewer subsidized third-world, anti-American socialists speechifying on our dime and fewer children raped for food by UN-sponsored soldiers.

Left-wing wackos end up pumping up the state, imposing regulations, and passing crazy laws.  And then make it illegal (as in "hate crime") to criticize their leftist project.

Thank you, that's what I meant.

There are two kinds of right-wing wackos - the kind of people like Kluckers, who are personally evil and disgusting, but not really relevant, and guys like JBS who have been forcibly run out of the mainstream by the combination of media pressure and guys like Buckley purifying the ranks.

I should really note here that the Klan is hardly a right wing organization.  It was founded by southern Democrats who opposed just about everything Republican.  About the only "right-wing" policy they advocated for was opposion to labor unions.  They also were supposedly anti-communist, but that's similar to how Mussolini was anti-communist.  The reason a lot of people mistake them for "right wing" is that, like the facsists, they supported a different brand of totalitarianism than the communists.  They're only less leftist.

For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
