The man charged with killing a diaper thief fired his gun nine times, hitting the thief in the back while he was trying to get away, Orange County deputies said in an affidavit.

Lonnie Leonard, 51, is accused of shooting 19-year-old Arthur Adams, who deputies say was stealing two cartloads of items that included diapers at Wal-Mart in February.

Leonard, of Apopka, is also facing charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm.

Deputies concluded that Leonard fired his weapon with “no regard for the life and property of others.”

It goes downhill from there.

 

On the plus side the shooter DID remove some trash from the gene pool (the article says the thief was not an upstanding member of society).

The shooter was the more rude description for a less than intelligent person involving a posterior in the description...

Article says he was charged with carrying concealed....so he likely didn't have a permit in that case.

I caught that. $500 bail for that charge which seems a little low to me but whatevs.

This was near the end.

Leonard is at the Orange County Jail on a $100,500 bond and was appointed a public defender. He does not have a previous criminal record in Florida.
