Welcome to APS!  =D
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

Yeah, I'm getting more domed every year that 10,000 hairs fall out of my head.

Considering that my maternal grandmother died from Alzheimer's, and now my mother is in the middle stages of that nasty disease, I am probably...huh, what?  What was I talking about?  I forget. Never mind.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

My best friend's wife started getting dementia two years ago at age 58. She's now into full Alzheimers and getting worse by the day.

It's sad.

Reminder to self: Complete Living Will and Health Care Directive, as well as informal, handshake agreements to "Give/get the pillow treatment 'if it comes to that'."

It really is sad.  I would not wish that disease on anyone, even a worst enemy.
I will be 57 next month, and every little memory lapse I have gives me pause, makes me wonder.  Alzheimer's, especially in its early stages, is most damaging to short term memory.

When I was with the large multi-state healthcare system, one of the service lines I oversaw was hospice.  Dementia is the second most common reason for patients to be on hospice.  Dementia is a terminal disease all by itself.

I feel guilty about wisecracking about it.

Don't sweat it, 230RN.  I doubt anyone here is getting their knickers in a twist over it.  We've all been wisecracking over it.  It's probably best if we can laugh about it a bit.
