Title: Greek Yogurt
Post by: Hawkmoon on October 22, 2021, 11:39:18 PM
Can someone explain to me what the attraction is to Greek yogurt?

My doctor advised me to eat some in response to an intestinal upset, so I got a few containers of it.

UGH! It's heavy, pasty, and the sourness comes right through the flavor of whatever fruit or berry is in it. I don't think I'll be able to force myself to eat the rest of what I got.

I guess I'm spoiled. My late wife was from Chile, and there is nothing in the United States that comes close to comparing (favorably) to the yogurt I found when visiting there with her.

You could probably get used to it. I don't really notice the difference anymore.

Have you tried different brands?

Yogurt is pretty easy to make. Maybe you should look into making your own.

I have tried different brands. They're all equally unpalatable.

I use it more as a sour cream alternative than as sit-down-with-a-spoon yogurt.

I think it’s made using fermented toe jam.
Or am I thinking about feta?

If you're using fat free, try the whole milk yogurt.

Whole milk yougut tastes quite a bit better.  IMHO&YMMV.

Actually, the diet for intestinal upsets proscibes (not prescribes) fiber.

Have you tried Friendly Farms Greek yogurt? I just polished off some their apple & cinnamon variety. Quite toothsome.
