Active shooter reported at YouTube HQ.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/04/03/gunshots-reported-at-youtube-headquarters-in-california.html

Very little other info at this time.

I'm intentionally avoiding speculation about it being related to their recent policy change regarding firearms-related content. That discussion needs to happen only if a relationship is established.

Now reporting one dead, possibly the shooter. Some reports that she shot her boyfriend before shooting herself.

A woman is dead and multiple people are injured after she opened fire at YouTube's headquarters in San Bruno on Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to YouTube's headquarters, located at 901 Cherry Avenue, shortly after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

San Bruno Police Chief Ed Barberini says the female shooter is believed to be dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A gun was recovered at the scene. Multiple witnesses tell KTVU the woman shot herself after shooting her boyfriend. Police have not confirmed those details. Additional details on the shooter have not been released.

Article says four wounded, and then goes on to list three wounded taken to one hospital and four or five to another. Only death mentioned by the police seems to be the shooter, but a witness "saw" someone being shot dead in the parking lot.

I think we need to take a step back from this and wait for the real news to separate from the fake news and conjecture.

So far, they say it's a woman who shot her boyfriend and then herself.

The only real question is whether the wounded women were somehow involved, or if it's just her aim being  off.

She also had a youtube channel where she speaks Farsi.

Would that perhaps be what we might call a "clue"? She complained that traffic on her channel fell off because she was "filtered." Does anyone know what her videos were about? Was it all pro-vegan propaganda, or did she advocate for Islamist causes?

[Edit to add} I just saw part of her video manifesto. Right at the start she complains that they filtered her "Persian" channel. Persia, of course, is Iran. Her channel could have been Iranian vegan recipes, but it could also have been something else.

She claimed to be Bahai.  Never mind that all the Bahai I've met made Hari Krishnas look like Barbary pirates by comparison.  About as peacefully non-attached as it gets.  Sneaking suspicion she was religion shopping and settled on that one for sounding socially-conscious enough to give the image she wanted.

38 years old, not exactly a teenie-bopper. Family came to the U.S. from Iran in 1996. Apparently her complaint was that Youtube had demonetized her channels and "ruined her life." So where are all the demonstrators complaining about how Youtube has blood on its hands?

I was watching Fox News streaming on this shooting yesterday, and there was a supposed witness talking about hearing rapid fire gun shots and one woman outside the building being hit multiple times in quick succession and clearly dead as a result.  I wonder if he was making that up or what.

As a side note and thread drift. I discovered a Youtube channel called "Facts."  (Yes, the period is important).  After ~3 years, it shut down the end the March 2018.  They posted one video of day of Irish 20-somethings trying various foods from around the world or watching American TV for the first time (lots of the crappy shows).   It was hilarious.  (The "Irish people try American BBQ" is probably the best one.)

They had over 1,000,000 Youtube subscribers, but once they were demonetized by Youtube, they shutdown.   Now, just because you have 1 million subscribers doesn't mean you can turn a profit, but if you can't even make money at that level, then the days of lots of content (at least better quality content) is just about over.

Not according to the authorities. They claim that nothing was communicated to them to suggest a threat.

I think we're seeing more buck-passing and doctoring of spin. There's a distinct possibility I have this wrong, but I have the impression that there were two calls made to the police by her family. First off was a routine missing person report. Then the Mountain View police called and said they had found her. So far, so good -- no threat evident, no threat reported.

But ... then her brother engaged his brain, Googled Mountain View, and realized she was only 30 miles from Youtube headquarters -- and he knew she had a beef with Youtube. So, supposedly, he called the police a second time to warn them that she was in that area and that she might so "something." Obviously, he had no specifics of what she might do or exactly when she might do it, so the police can innocently say they received no "actionable" warning.

Which translates, in my mind to:

My logic hasn't failed me. I'm getting two versions of what the second call actually said. The family says they warned the police that she had a beef with Youtube and that she might do "something." The police could not have arrested her based on that, but they certainly could have contacted Youtube and given them a heads up to be alert, and perhaps increase security. But the police are saying that the family didn't provide any warning that she might do something.

Who are we to believe? Personally, I don't believe the police when it's a situation where they have reasons to cover their tracks.

Of course you can buy an ar-15 in California.

It just has to look retarded:
(https://armedpolitesociety.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thefirearmblog.com%2Fblog%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2017%2F09%2F18077425_255771948220615_8695223525256102768_o-660x371.jpg&hash=4ad179c8ab2b84565b5164b17c2b4e013e7e76bf)

Note, there is nothing at all stopping a person intent on mass murder from merely swapping a few parts on their stupid looking ar-15 with a magazine lock and making one that looks like it should, and fully functional with a detachable magazine.  Anyone with a brain could do it.

The law accomplishes literally nothing except to harrass the law-abiding it is so easy to bypass.

If it doesn't mean the laws aren't working, why didn't they work? We are continually told that "just one more" law WILL prevent these incidents, then we get an incident in a place that has all those laws and we find that, just as the pro-gun side predicted, the law didn't prvent what "they" promised us it would prevent.

Single shot, single use handguns. Only allowed 1 per month.
Must be returned to a qualified and California certified licensed gunsmith to reload. Of course that would also include the mandatory waiting period to redeem after getting reloaded.
