Other than the Warthog, don't aerial guns usually eject their empties out into the blue? Even if they are blanks, I would expect a serious falling object damage risk.
I was always pleasant, friendly and within arm's reach of a gun.

What really gets me about the Miami video is that they go beyond maneuvers and are firing blanks... WTF for? Are they trying to gauge the public's sensitivity to military activity on their streets?... And regarding the Houston video, (full video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cd9UO3e6piU )note how all those guys on the ground look like people you may find at the range... they are all dressed like what your average american shooting enthusiast might be wearing.Hmmpf.
