Looks like my house on the left. Just not as tacky.
I needed a mod to change my signature because the concept of "family friendly" eludes me.
Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

That's not tacky.  These are tacky:

Yes, folks really do compete to be declared the most tasteless, tacky, rediculously over-the-top in Xmas decorating.  I think it has something to do with the chemical they dump into the drinking water.  I've seen it referred to as ETOH - anybody know what that stands for?

my boss calls it santa barf. as in santa barfed on somebodys front yard (BTW, in the new smilies, someone FORGOT the pukeing one, or was that intentional?)

now, mind you, i like tastefully done lights. simple white lights, with clean lines, candles in the window, big evergreen wreath on the door, and maybe some of those wicker looking deer with white lights. that is tasteful, and pretty.
sometimes colored lights are done well, specially folks who just use one or two colors (my mom did her tree lights one year with red and gold strands of lights, gorgous result)

but the yards that are crammed with every consevable lighted blaring christmas related thing. uggggggg..... like nails on a chalkboard. unfortunalty we have one at the end of the road, although, now that i think about it, i don't think they're still there, becuase it would have started going up by now. glory glory halliluhah!!!

Just remember, folks.  Two-thousand-some years ago, Christ was born of the Virgin Mary so that you could have lots of inflatable reindeer in your yard, and a giant, inflatable Homer Simpson Santa.

Is it permissable to follow that with a small rant on Christmas advertising showing up two weeks before Thanksgiving?  Wasn't there some law, or rule, that you had to wait till after 6 PM on Thanksgiving Day?  Or at least till after the Macy's parade?

And speaking of rants - has anyone else noticed how Wally World has used everything but the actual name of some of the big toy and clothing places in their "But we have lower prices than them on everything you'll want to buy for Xmas" tv ad?
