According to AP, a 26 year-old UCSB alum & EY accountant got a $960 bill for 70 minutes with a stripper in a private room at the "Spearmint Rhino Adult Cabaret" in Santa Barbara.  He balked at the price and got killed by security while trying to leave.  This got me wondering, what is the going rate for a private room?

I bought a friend of mine a back room private lap dance after he finished his chemo and it cost me $25 for a five minute dance.

Of course this is in Iowa and it wasn't the cleanest of gentleman clubs around.

It's usually about $20-$25 per song and sometimes they will have a 2 for 1 special on the hour or something...don't ask me how I know...bought a lot of dances for my buddies...

Figure 5 minutes per song and that's about $350...sometimes those girls can't do the math...but they do get really upset when you tell them to go to hell...I know because I told one once.

My very first night out in the PI (1977) I got my pocket picked less than 50 yds outside the gate. I found out that all my $20 worth of pesos were gone  when I reached into my pocket to pay for my first San Miguel. The girl I was with at the moment felt bad and ended up giving me a freebie. So if you're LUCKY (?) It's FREE! Cheesy

In the VIP/Private room the price is negotiated between the "merchant" and the "customer". The floor/table/lap dances are at a price set by the club, and serve as a means of advertising for the dancer, they (the dancers) rarely make money on that beyond tips.

So it sounds like there was either a misunderstanding or the guy was drunk and made a really bad deal.  But I wonder why they would detain him so intensely after charging him almost 3 times the going rate.  You think the manager would say, "the guy agreed to pay WHAT?  That's ridiculous.  Hey pal, just give her 400 bucks and don't come back."

I suspect that the guy was (a) drunk or stoned; and (b) beligerant. That'll do it... One of the security guys may have also just gotten unlucky, and whacked or bent him in just the right way...

I was just leaving the first money exchange place right past the bridge. A drag queen latched on to my uh, "personal belongings" with one hand and while my attention was drawn to that he/she cleaned me out with the other hand. I didn't know till it was time to pay for my first beer. That's what you call being new. Tongue Once I became more familiar with the place I got to know a few of the street kids a little and they demonstrated some absolutely amazing pick pocketing skills to me one day. I dont know about anybody else but the last time I was there we were in for 30 days to prepare to ship back to the states and at the end of the 30 days I had had enough of that place. Cheesy

Yea, I use to thrown coins to the kids in the water. Gnarly man...
