Title: Creeping red fescue grass seed for shady areas
Post by: MillCreek on May 15, 2021, 06:13:41 PM
I have about 5000 square feet of lawn that is often shaded and moist due to the surrounding 80 feet tall cedars and Doug Fir on the west edge of the property.  In the spring and summer, the area gets about four hours of sun per day. Getting the shade mixes from the big box stores has had limited results.  I did some reading and just ordered 10 lbs. of creeping red fescue seed.  I see that it is both perennial and spreads via underground runners, so maybe it will help fill in over time.

Good luck, I've never had good luck trying to grow turf/lawn like grasses in shady areas near conifers.
