Current selections come from a local candymaker and tend towards dried fruits with nuts and just enough chocolate to bind the mix together.

Don't know if it's the same thing, but I really like the chocolate bars with fruit and almonds.  I usually find them in the candy aisle at the grocery store, not so much at the convenience stores. I think Cadbury makes one

They have a somewhat similar texture (sesame halvah is somewhere in between marzipan and a Butterfinger filling). I haven't had marzipan in awhile so I can't recall how sweet it was. Halvah made with honey can be pretty sweet though. Its sweetness is offset by how rich it is.

the rum truffle. preferably the ones made with real rum, which is added after the chocolate has been melted with the butter and cream. just remember not to feed them to kids. there's close to a quarter an ounce of rum in each. [popcorn]

Sounds like the perfect reason to feed them to kids....  =D

Wow. Now I want some chocolate.

In somewhat of an order:

any good European milk chocolate bar (plain or caramel, please)
Caramello or equivalent
Heath/Skor
Snickers
Toblerone

My girlfriend likes the $100,000 bar. They are pretty good too. But I think my favorite is good milk chocolate bars. My girlfriend is going to Europe next month. I don't want booze or wine from Europe, I want chocolate. I wonder how much she can legally bring back...

Mostly, I like high-cocoa-content chocolate (70-83% or so - past 83%, it tends to be too bitter for me to enjoy).  Almonds can be good, but I'd probably rather have dark-chocolate-covered almonds than a candy bar with almonds.  Dove dark chocolate is good too, for sweeter chocolate.

For mass-market/supermarket candy, my hands-down favorites are the dark-chocolate versions of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Snickers.  I can only take milk chocolate when it's combined with something else - the $100,000 Bar is good, once in a while, I can use plain old Hershey's Bars in s'mores (though I like Dove dark chocolate squares for those, too).

Every so often, those liquor-filled chocolates are really good.  About once a year is plenty, though.

1. Good peanut brittle. Salty-sweet .eq. two thumbs up.
2. Premium gummies. Not too sweet.
3. Snickers

I forgot about the $100,000 bar. I used to love those.

I guess that's what happens when the only chocolate you eat is Jello cook and serve about once a year. Still warm please. =D

I tend to like Three Musketeers, but a co-worker just got back from Denmark and brought back some milk chocolate from there with actual chocolate.  I also got a small bar of Moser Roth which is "Edel Bitter 85% Kakao" which is supposed to be extra dark.

Ugh.  Had some Lindt 85%,  yesterday, and was... less than enjoyable.  Like Hershey's and aspirin minus anything sweet.  Feh.  =(

Need to try those dark chocolate PB cups, though...  =)

The following are a measure of a certain unnamed person's weakness of character:  Baby Ruth, Heath Bar, Mr. Goodbar.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

I'm late to this thread.  Mr. Goodbar for me, but only the minis, usually.  Not a huge chocolate fan.

I used to be nuts for a couple pieces of Godiva chocolate, but anymore I just don't care for 'em much.
