There were several different gun control bills introduced in WA this year, and most did not make it out of committee for consideration. The one that did, and seemed to have the best chance at becoming law, the universal background check bill, just went down in flames, there just wan't enough support for the bill.

One of the "R"s that supported it initially, pulled her support, stating:

Quote
Maureen Walsh, R- Walla Wall, changed her mind after much deliberation. She said guns were a “way of life” in Eastern Washington.

“The more I researched it, it really became abundantly clear that sometimes the more laws we add it’s just kind of an exercise in futility.”

It might be over for this year, but we now have a "D" governor that would love to push an anti-gun agenda. We have to stay vigilant.

It may not be gun control per se, but it looks as if the bill to create a firearms offender registry may get through the legislative process.
