A large part of India is majority Muslim. Having spent some time there, I could agree it isn’t the most free place to be a woman, but I think these ratings need to be looked at with a truckload if salt.

For their sample set of 10 they basically just hand picked the 9 worst counties and then threw in the US as 10th. Surprise, surprise, surprise, the US came out as the 10th worst. Similar to what they do in many global warming studies.

It sounds believable to me.  It would explain why most American women are so eager to move to those nine countries, if only those nasty men would let them.

Experimental / sampling artifact.  Only American women typically have the opportunity to actually bitch about their supposed "plight," thereby skewing the rankings.

I've seen that before and I'm starting to call it "The Mascara Factor."

Hey, I'm not being anti-feminist !  I'm being pro-scientist by hunting down possible extraneous variables in the 'sperimental model.

Not a problem - in the countries I mentioned (and many others!) left-wing women will discover they have plenty to complain about.
