cosine, thanks for the link.  I'd rather watch old cartoons than pretty much anything that's on TV these days.  I actually have a bunch of old Bugs and Daffy on videotape.  Check the Bugs cartoons with Beaky Buzzard for some truly funny stuff.  Also, check out how cool Bugs was way back when his head was kind of pointy (compared to the newer, more friendly Bugs).

Just to let you know, the selection of the classic cartoons changes every month. There are new ones to watch every month.

I ran across an interview of Chuck Jones on a cable channel some years ago.  One thing he said that surprised me then, but doesn't now in hindsight, is that the BB cartoons were made for adults as much as they were for children.
When you look at the language used, the double entrendres, and the sophistication of some of the humor, it becomes apparent that really was the case.
Back in the Nineties I bought a CD at Fry's that contained bloopers from various movies and TV shows.  Two of the cuts were of Porky Pig using a hammer and accidentally mashing his thumb.
"Oh, son of a bi...ba...bi, son of a bi...bi...ba, son of a bi...bi...gun!  You thought I was going to say, ah, 'Son of a bitch now, dintch ya?'"
Anyone else ever see those?
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

All the interviews with Jones, along with Friz Freeling, Mel Blanc, and others, can be found on the Golden Collection DVDs.  The last set (Volume Four) also included the aforementioned Porky Pig "SOB" short.

One of the most poignant posters ever created was the one run in magazines and newspapers just after Mel Blanc passed away.  It was called "Speechless".  I'll do some searching on the web and see if I can find it.

Found it...

Very true.  They make me laugh more now than when I was a kid.  As I got older I also developed a great respect for the artistic quality of those cartoons.

Done, plus a few assorted extras.  Had to spread it across two e-mails.

I've got the first Golden Collection as well. Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies are indeed in a class by themselves.

One of my all time favorites is the one in which Bugs runs into the gangsters. One was an Edward G. Robinson look alike and the other was a big, dumb, goon.

Gangster: "Shutup, Rabbut"
Bugs: "I always shut up when I'm told. I'm not the kind to keep blabbin' when I'm told to shutup. Not Like some people, they just never know when to quit. When told to shutup, I shutup."
Gangster: "Shutup shuttin' up!"

The "Hair Raisin' Hare" monster was one of my favorites as well.

Can't remember which episode with the monster, but the dialogue went something like this. edit: (Well, duh, it was that episode. Gossamer was in another cartoon or two, as I remember.)

Bugs: "Do you ever get the feeling that you're being watched? That the eyes of strange creatures are upon you? Look! Out there! In the audience...!
Monster: "PEOPLE! AAAAUGGGHHHHHHHHH!"

Then the monster runs through several walls.

The monster's name is on the tip of my tongue. "Be a nice monster and I will reward you with a spider goulash" Darnit, Can't rmember the name.

Okay, now you can cue the obligatory jokes about an eighteen-year-old watching Looney Toon cartoons. Cheesy

Probably the only thing on TV that I'd watch.

Bugs is a modern American Trickster hero.
In thy presence is fulness of joy.
At thy right hand pleasures for evermore.

Not that I'm advocating watching such things, of course.
