So this guy had a nice collection...

The Bruce Stern collection.  Here's the list of weapons being sold at his estate sale.  Found the link on Kim du Toit's blog.

i forewarded the parkers & AH Foxi to my dad last week

There are some really nice gun icons in that list

Man - that is one butt ugly SKS which just goes to prove that one man's fertilizer is another's crap.

Right, it's not an SKS, it's a Swiss gun. It has some of the lines of my K-31. I like the diagonally-backed fingergrooves, too. Being that it's Swiss, the innards are probably as finely machined as a Swiss watch.

Also, nice wood. Why, Werewolf, what do you think would be an attractive gun?

I stand corrected - still one butt ugly gun though.

Never thought much about it. But if I must:

Any bolt action with a European style butt stock.
Mannlicher style stocks are nice looking.

A tricked out AR-15 can be interesting.

Most SIG P type pistols - especially the Elite models are nice looking.

Classic model S&W revolvers with blue finish and nice wood are cool to look at.

Most Commie guns are butt ugly. FAL's do nothing for me. Ruger pistols make me wanna gag every time I see one.

NOTE: the above aren't comments on functionality, quality, accuracy, reliability etc just looks - except for ruger - I hate Ruger - pistols suck and their .45LC cylinder specs make them P's OS.

Eye of the beholder, I guess. I think AR's look boring, cheap and plastic. I find the original wood-furniture Avtomat Kalashnikova 1947 to be a lot more elegant in design.

 shocked shocked shocked

Oh my GOD. I didn't get that far! That's a ZfK55! Those are so rare as to be nonexistent! And there's several!

Picture the Swiss K-31/1911 refined and refined and tuned into a pure sniper rifle, with a muzzlebrake and a slightly modified action. That is just what that is.

If you brought one to a competition, people would be packing up and going home, rather than try to beat it.

Where's this auction, now?  Oooooh....It's in Maine. I could drive there. Hm. Think I could get one for a decent price?

I just finished looking at the collection.  My God, that's not a collection, it's a sampling of the history of firearms.  His collection should have been a museum.  I'd have paid money to look at this collection!  I hope that these beauties go to fine homes, and none ends up a neglected piece of metal and wood.

Apparently the NRA museum is getting some of the truly choice pieces from his collection.

I'll have to give Doug Wicklund a call and see what's coming in.

I'm just excited that many of these will end up "on the street".

There are some fairly wealthy aficianados up here, have to see if they buy anything.

So these are all transferrable? Had to have come in pre-'68, then, right?

Looks that way.

Check out 1216 on the second page.  Read the description and then open the picture.  grin
